The two-row Mazda CX-70, built on the same platform as the three-row CX-90, was a completely new model for the 2025 model year. This near-luxury midsize SUV targets a professional couple or small families that value cargo space and don’t need a third row. Primary competitors in the near-luxury space include the Lincoln Nautilus and Volvo XC60. Mainstream competitors include the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Honda Passport, Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport, and Hyundai Santa Fe. The 2026 Mazda CX-70 is available in five trims: Turbo Preferred, Turbo Premium, Turbo Premium Plus, Turbo S Premium, and Turbo S Premium Plus.

What’s New for the 2026 Mazda CX-70

Since the Mazda CX-70 was all-new last year, the 2026 model is largely a carryover. However, there are some new standard features, including heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated second-row seats, and power-adjustable front seats. Additionally, all models will now feature a gloss black Mazda emblem and gloss black badging on the rear liftgate.

Design

The exterior lines and proportions of the 2026 Mazda CX-70 are similar to what we see on the three-row CX-90. The elegant nose and sculpted headlights have a high-end look and feel, and the molded side panels give a 3D-like depth to the vehicle’s color palette. Standard wheels are 21-inch alloys with a black metallic finish. There are no appearance packages available for 2026.

Powertrain

The 2026 Mazda CX-70 is equipped with a 3.3-liter inline six-cylinder engine with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. It has a standard all-wheel-drive (AWD) drivetrain with a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) bias. The Turbo models are tuned to deliver 280 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque, while the Turbo S models deliver 340 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. The base Turbo Preferred can tow up to 3,500 pounds, while all other trims can tow up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped. Turbo models are estimated to get 24 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, while the Turbo S gets 23 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. It is also worth noting that the Turbo models can use regular fuel, while it premium fuel is recommended on the Turbo S models.

The 2026 Mazda CX-70 is a two-row SUV that seats five passengers, which means it has a lot of available cargo space–both with and without passengers. Behind the second row, it has 39.6 cubic feet of space, and with the second row folded flat, max cargo capacity is 75.3 cubic feet. As the CX-70 sits in the near-luxury category, the interior materials and trim have an up-level look and feel. Bright chrome on the dash adds elegance, and the multitude of interior color options–including red and tan Nappa leather–give buyers more choices. A power moonroof is standard on the bottom two trims, and a power panoramic moonroof becomes standard at the Turbo Premium Plus trim.

Technology

Standard tech features on the 2026 Mazda CX-70 are plentiful, and they include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Alexa Built-in, a wireless phone charger, and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. Higher trims offer other tech features such as navigation, Sirius XM Radio, a 12-speaker Bose Centerpoint Surround Sound System, and a digital gauge cluster. While the Mazda infotainment screen is typically not a touchscreen, the 2026 CX-70 has touchscreen capability when using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Otherwise, the infotainment system is accessed through a rotary dial on the center console.

Safety

Every 2026 Mazda CX-70 comes equipped with the standard i-ACTIVSENSE safety suite, which includes automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and a vehicle-exit warning. Available safety features include emergency lane-keep assist with blind-spot assist, a 360-degree camera system, and automatic reverse braking. The Mazda CX-70 gets the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) 2025 Top Safety Pick+ award, and it gets an overall five-star rating from the National Traffic Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Pricing and Release Date

The 2026 Mazda CX-70 is on sale now. At the time of this writing, Mazda lists the base price for the Turbo Preferred trim at $42,250. The Turbo Premium and Turbo Premium plus are priced at $46,280 and $49,570, respectively. The Turbo S Premium starts at $53,240, and the Turbo S Premium Plus starts at $56,670. It’s worth noting every paint color except the Jet Black Mica carries a $595 premium.
