The 2026 Jeep Recon joins the Wagoneer S as the second electric vehicle (EV) in Jeep’s lineup, but unlike Wagoneer S, it will be trail-rated. The Recon sits in the midsize SUV segment, and while it’s currently a party of one as an off-road EV, its likeliest competitor will be the Rivian R2 when that model arrives in 2026. At launch, the 2026 Recon will have just one trim: the Moab.

What’s New for the 2026 Jeep Recon
The Jeep Recon is a completely new vehicle, and it marks the first trail-rated EV in Jeep’s lineup. It will be built on the STLA-Large unibody platform, and it will boast interesting features such as removable doors, an available Sky One-Touch Power Top, rear-quarter glass, and swing-gate glass. Plus, even though it’s an EV, it will still get Jeep’s Selec-Terrain traction-management system and off-road specs meant for the trail.
Design
With its upright stance and removable doors, the 2026 Jeep Recon takes a lot of design cues from the Wrangler, but the Recon is actually about 5 inches longer than the gas-powered off-roader. From the seven-slot grille rings to the U-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs), you’ll see a nice blend of heritage design mixed with modern EV styling. You’ll see gloss black accents on the grille, pillars, and window trim, and a gloss black roof will be available. The Moab trim available at launch will also add gloss black fasciae, wheel flares, and available rock rails. The Recon will get 18-inch fully painted aluminum wheels and 33-inch all-terrain tires.
Powertrain
The four-wheel-drive (4WD) 2026 Jeep Recon is equipped with a 400-volt, 100.5-kWh battery pack, which is the same setup we see in the Jeep Wagoneer S. However, the Recon delivers more power, at 650 horsepower and 620 pound-feet of torque. It will get up to 230 miles of range in the Moab trim, and Jeep says it will get up to 250 miles on a trim that will be available at a later date. Jeep estimates it will get up to 80 MPGe (miles per gallon of gasoline equivalent) in combined driving. If you’re charging at home on a Level 2 charger, it’ll take 6.8 hours to go from 5% to 80%, but if you stop by a DC fast charger, it’ll take about 28 minutes. Built for the dirt, the 2026 Recon boasts 9.1 inches of ground clearance, a 33.8-degree approach angle, and a 33.1-degree departure angle.

Interior
The 2026 Jeep Recon will seat five, and since the doors can come off, it is filled with scuff-resistant, textured, and recycled materials. Seat surfaces will be synthetic leather, and the launch Moab trim will come with a Joshua Tree tan interior. The 2026 Recon will come with a standard dual-pane sunroof, and a Sky One-Touch Power Top, like we see on the Wrangler, is available. The Recon offers a max of 65.9 cubic feet of rear cargo space with second-row seats folded flat, and 30.3 cubic feet behind the second rows. It also has a 3.0 cubic feet frunk (front trunk) that is large enough to fit a carry-on suitcase.
Technology
As you would expect from an EV, the 2026 Jeep Recon has a swath of screens and a lot of tech. Behind the wheel you’ll see a customizable 12.3-inch digital cluster, and the center stack is punctuated by a 14.5-inch horizontal touchscreen. There are physical HVAC controls integrated into the bottom of the screen, and the infotainment system is powered by Stellantis's Uconnect 5, which means it also has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other tech to look forward to on the 2026 Recon includes the Jeep-exclusive Trails Offroad App, optimized BEV pages, dynamic range mapping, Amazon Alexa connectivity, four USB-C ports, a wireless phone charger, and a premium 11-speaker Alpine audio system.
Safety
The 2026 Jeep Recon comes with a large list of standard safety features–including things that are usually options. In addition to automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, and parking sensors, you’ll also see a 360-degree camera, autonomous parking assist, intersection collision assist, rough road cruise control, Selec-Speed Control, and traffic-sign recognition. As a completely new model, the Recon has not yet been tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) at the time of this writing.

Pricing and Release Date
Jeep will begin production of the 2026 Jeep Recon early next year, so we expect to see it in dealerships in the first half of 2026. Though full pricing hasn’t yet been announced as of publication, we know the initial Moab trim will start at $65,000, and the only options will be the black painted roof, the Comfort Package, the Sky One-Touch Power Top, and the Trailer Tow Group. We expect at least one additional trim with a lower-priced option to be announced for late release.
