What’s New for the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5
The Ioniq 5 did not receive any mechanical or cosmetic updates for the 2026 model year, but the changes Hyundai implemented will likely be more compelling for buyers. The automaker cut prices for the Ioniq 5 by up to $9,800 for some models, with an average reduction of $9,155. Additionally, Hyundai has extended the available $7,500 cash incentive to help make up for the loss of federal EV tax credits.
Design
The Ioniq 5 is a compact crossover with unique styling elements. It features pixelated lighting fixtures with unique shapes and a striking look. Some models feature two-tone color schemes, with accents that complement the base paint color, and Hyundai offers a few wheel designs, depending on the trim.
Powertrain
Hyundai offers a few powertrain options, starting with the single-motor, rear-wheel-drive (RWD) model with a standard-range battery. It offers 168 horsepower, while the SE model boosts output to 225 horsepower. All-wheel-drive (AWD) variants add an extra motor for a total of 320 horsepower. The driving range starts at 245 miles for the base model with a standard-range battery and climbs to 318 miles with the extended-range pack. AWD models have a slightly shorter range, at 290 miles, and the off-road-oriented XRT model offers 259 miles.

Interior
Cloth upholstery comes standard, but synthetic leather is available. Hyundai equips heated seats in all models, along with a power driver’s seat, and higher trims add ventilated front seats and a power passenger’s seat. The front buckets are wide, nicely padded, and supportive, but the back bench could use more shape and bolstering. Cargo space is decent, at 27.2 cubic feet behind the back seats and up to 59.3 cubic feet with the rear bench folded flat.
Technology
Hyundai equips a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other standard tech includes navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, six speakers, Bluetooth, SiriusXM, HD radio, and more. Higher trims add wireless charging, LED ambient interior lighting, a digital key system, and a Bose stereo.
Safety
The 2026 Ioniq 5 hasn’t been crash-tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), but it comes well-equipped with advanced driver-assistance features. They include automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, a rearview camera, rear-seat alerts, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, safe-exit warning, and more.

Pricing and Release Date
As of the time of this writing, the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 starts at $35,500, $7,600 cheaper than the year before. Prices range to $48,975 for the top Limited AWD model.
