GMC entered the world of electric trucks for 2024 with the Sierra EV in a single trim: the Edition 1 Denali. The 2026 GMC Sierra EV, however, introduces a full range of trims, including the Elevation and AT4 in addition to the Denali. All trims offer standard- and extended-range batteries, but AT4 and Denali variants also come with an optional max-range battery. While the EV truck segment is still small, luxury competitors include the Rivian R1T and the Tesla Cybertruck, and more mainstream rivals include the Ford F-150 Lightning and the Sierra EV's corporate cousin, the Chevrolet Silverado EV.

What’s New for the 2026 GMC Sierra EV
In addition to the two new trims, the standard- and extended-range battery levels are also new. Though GMC has not released range estimates for either of the new batteries at the time of this writing, the max-range battery provides an estimated 440 miles of range. The AT4 trim adds off-road prowess to the electric truck lineup, including a trim-exclusive Terrain Mode. Also new for 2026, the starting price drops about $30,000 with the addition of the base Elevation trim.
Design
The 2026 GMC Sierra EV has a bold stance with an upright grille, available illuminated grille shield, and signature Sierra truck headlights with an EV twist. The truck is only available as a crew cab wtih short bed configuration, but it does get the MuiltPro Tailgate with multiple configurations, and it also has the available MultiPro MidGate, which allows owners to fold rear seats forward and remove the rear glass in order to increase the truck bed up to 10 feet, 10 inches. Since there are three distinct trims with their own appearances, there are no real appearance packages, but it’s worth noting that standard wheels are 18 inches with a machine face and gloss black pockets. The Denali models will come with either 22- or 24-inch machined aluminum wheels. As a dedicated off-road model, the AT4 will get 35-inch all-terrain tires, 2 inches of extra ground clearance, and red front recovery hooks.
Powertrain
The 2026 GMC Sierra EV will come standard with electronic four-wheel drive (e4WD) and, therefore, has both front and rear motors. At the time of publication, GMC has not yet posted performance specs for the base standard-range models. Elevation and Denali extended-range models will deliver 645 horsepower, with the AT4 models delivering 625 hp. The max-range models will deliver 725 hp and 760 hp for AT4 and Denali models, respectively. The max-range models will get up to 440 miles of range, and GMC states all models will be 800-volt DC fast-charge capable. While the Elevation has a charge rate up to 300 kilowatts, AT4 and Denali are capable of charging up to 350 kW, which means they can add up to 100 miles of range in 10 minutes. Max towing is 12,500 pounds.

Interior
As you might expect from an electric truck, the interior of the GMC Sierra EV is minimalist and tech-forward, with a standard 16.8-inch diagonal center infotainment screen that will house most vehicle functions such as HVAC and headlight controls. In addition to the available MultiPro Midgate, which increases truck bed capability, the Sierra EV comes with a power-operated front trunk (eTrunk) adding 11 cubic-feet of cargo volume. The Sierra EV seats five and includes available features like heated and ventilated seats and a fixed panoramic glass roof.
Technology
The 2026 GMC Sierra infotainment is powered by Google Built-In, which means it includes Google Maps, Google Assistant, and downloadable apps from the Google Play store. What it doesn’t have is Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Cool tech features available on the Sierra EV include 4-Wheel Steer, featuring CrabWalk; Super Cruise hands-free highway driving; 7.2 or 10.2 kW Energy Transfer off-boarding power systems; and Air Ride Adaptive Suspension.
Safety
There is a lot of standard safety tech on the 2026 GMC Sierra EV. In addition to enhanced automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, traffic-sign recognition, driver-attention assist, and General Motors’ Buckle to Drive feature, there are several up-level safety systems available. These include blind-zone steering assist with trailering, rear cross-traffic braking, intersection automatic emergency braking, and side bicyclist alert.
