The Corolla is a wildly popular car. Though it had long been a value-forward, fuel-efficient option, Toyota introduced a hybrid variant that boosts fuel economy further, but it didn’t do much to make the car feel quicker or more engaging, as it remains a sedate commuter vehicle.

What’s New for the 2025 Toyota Corolla Hybrid
The 2025 Corolla Hybrid only received one notable update, which was the introduction of a new 10.5-inch touchscreen for the SE and XLE trims. The Nightshade Edition trim was discontinued, but Toyota still offers three well-equipped trims and a few add-on options.
Design
The Corolla has become more modern and sleeker in recent years, and the updates have made it look more expensive than it is. Toyota discontinued the Nightshade trim, but the SE model still offers the dark exterior trim pieces and black wheels. Niceties like LED headlights and daytime running lights (DRLs) are also included at no extra charge.
Powertrain
The Corolla Hybrid comes with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors with a combined output of 138 horsepower and 105 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard, but all-wheel drive (AWD) is available, and a continuously variable transmission (CVT) is the default for all models. While it’s not the quickest car around, the Corolla Hybrid feels reasonably energetic, and it returns up to 53 mpg in the city in its most efficient configuration.

Interior
Toyota advertises the Corolla Hybrid as a five-seat car, but it’s more comfortable and usable with two people in the back seat instead of three. Cloth upholstery comes standard, and more expensive trims come with synthetic leather upholstery. Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel are available. The front seats are spacious and comfortable, offering a good amount of head- and legroom, and outward visibility is great in all directions.
Technology
An 8-inch touchscreen and 4.2-inch gauge cluster display screen come standard, and all 2025 Corollas get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Top trims get a larger 10.5-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital gauge cluster, and a JBL stereo. Toyota’s recently improved infotainment system is more responsive and intuitive than previous versions, and it runs well on both display sizes, though it can feel laggy at times.
Safety
The 2025 Corolla earned a Top Safety Pick designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), though testing is not yet complete for the 2025 calendar year. Standard safety tech includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure alert, adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available.

Pricing and Release Date
As of the time of this writing, the 2025 Toyota Corolla Hybrid LE starts at $23,835, and the mid-range SE trim costs $26,265. The top XLE trim costs $28,190 to start.
