The 2025 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a cost-effective entry into the compact SUV class. It made its debut in 2018, capitalizing on the defunct Eclipse model name under the guise of a sporty SUV. Even though Mitsubishi recently raised prices across the board due to tariffs, the Eclipse Cross still manages to be a cost leader in the segment. It costs less than the Mazda CX-5, the Toyota RAV4, and the Honda CR-V even with standard all-wheel drive (AWD). For 2025, the Eclipse Cross is available in six trim levels: ES, LE, SE, SEL, SEL Touring, and Black Edition.

What’s New for the 2025 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross
The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is still in its first generation, and received a significant refresh in 2022. In addition to a redesigned front and rear fascia, a new infotainment screen on higher trims, standard forward collision mitigation, and standard lane departure warning, this update included the removal of the split rear window. While there are a couple changes for 2025, it's essentially a carryover model, although there is now a standard rear-seat alert and the Black Edition has been updated.
Design
The 2025 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross has bold styling—polarizing, some might say—with squinty, high-mounted daytime running lights, stacked-and-recessed headlights, and the Dynamic Shield grille, it won’t be confused with other SUVs. It comes standard with 16-inch wheels, while 18-inch wheels are standard with upper trims. The Eclipse Cross doesn’t really have any appearance packages, although there is a Black Edition trim, which includes black roof rails, a tailgate and lip spoiler, black door handles, and a black hood badge.
Powertrain
Even at its lower price point, the 2025 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross has all-wheel drive as standard. Under the hood, there is a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to a continuously variable transmission. This powertrain delivers 152 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. City fuel economy is 25 mpg, and highway fuel economy is between 26 and 28 mpg, depending on trim. Max towing capacity rings in at 1,500 pounds.
Interior
The 2025 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a two-row SUV that seats five passengers. Cloth seating surfaces are standard, but you’ll get synthetic suede seats starting at the SE trim and leather in the top-tier SEL trim. Eclipse Cross has 23.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row, with a maximum cargo volume of 50.1 cubic-feet behind the first row. If you’re looking for a sunroof, you’ll find it with either the SE or SEL trims as a part of a package.
Technology
The base 2025 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross has a seven-inch infotainment screen, but LE trim increases that to eight inches, while SE adds navigation. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard starting on the LE trim. The Eclipse Cross does offer connected services starting at the LE trim with a five-year Safeguard free trial for roadside assistance, and a one-year Remote Services trial for the likes of app-based remote start. The SEL trim has an available 510-watt Mitsubishi Power Sound System with eight speakers and a subwoofer, plus an available head-up display.
Safety
Standard safety features include forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, cruise control, and a backup camera. Available safety features as you level up include automatic high beams, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a 360-degree camera, and adaptive cruise control. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gives the Eclipse Cross an overall five-Star safety rating, but the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is a bit more critical. It gives the Eclipse Cross good ratings for the small front overlap and original moderate front overlap tests, but poor ratings in the updated moderate front overlap and side tests.
Pricing and Release Date
The 2025 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross went on sale at the end of 2024. At the time of writing, Mitsubishi listed the base price for the ES as $29,175, which included a welcome package and destination fees. Each trim adds about $1,000 to $1,500, and the SEL trim starts at $33,425 but tops out at $35,370 with the Touring Package that includes the upgraded audio system, heated rear seats, head-up display and panoramic moonroof.
