The three-row Expedition is Ford’s largest SUV. Built on the F-150 truck frame, the Expedition seats up to eight people, tows more than 9,000 pounds, and is tuned for comfortable, long-haul cruising. While the mechanicals are carryover, the interior design on the new 2025 model breaks away from the style of the current F-150.

What’s New for the 2025 Ford Expedition
For its fifth generation, Ford’s full-size SUV features a dramatically restyled dashboard, new Google-based infotainment, improved interior materials, more standard horsepower, and several new trims, including the off-road Tremor. The exterior, particularly the tailgate and the wheels, also see major changes.
Design
The Expedition is a small bus—a long, tall box is the only body shape that can efficiently carry mountains of cargo and half a dozen people in the same space. As such, Ford retained its massive footprint, including for the longer Max variant that adds more cargo space behind the third row. The glass and doors look nearly identical to its predecessor's. The wheels are the biggest telltale of the redesign, with multi-spoke 24s on the Platinum and bronze 22s on the King Ranch. The front end has a new “strongman” daytime running light (DRL) pattern that curves around the headlights and sweeps underneath the grille, which is now more upright and includes accessory lights on the Tremor. The rear has a split tailgate instead of a separate glass opening, and the lighting shapes resemble those on a Chevrolet Tahoe.
Powertrain
As before, every Expedition has a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, a 10-speed automatic transmission, and either rear- or four-wheel drive (RWD or 4WD) with a low-range transfer case. Most trims have 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque, up slightly from the 2024 model year. The Tremor and Platinum trims have 440 hp and 510 lb-ft. A locking-rear differential and raised shocks are included on the Tremor (this trim replaces the Timberline). Towing figures have increased to 7,000 pounds, or 9,600 pounds with the towing package.

Interior
An oval-shaped steering wheel and a 24-inch display positioned high atop the dash are the major changes inside for 2025. The look is similar to the wraparound design in the Lincoln Navigator, but with speakers built into the dash on the passenger side instead of extra screens. Fit and finish appear to be markedly improved, along with ambient lighting and a power-sliding center console that reveals a hidden drawer for storing valuables. Passenger space is generous in all rows, and the third row now has a center pass-through for transporting long objects through the cabin. A shelf in the cargo area doubles as a table or a seat back for tailgating.
Technology
A 24-inch display, which is controlled by a 13.2-inch touchscreen and unmarked thumb pads on the steering wheel, is the most prominent change for 2025. So is the new Google-based infotainment: While the current F-150 still uses Ford’s Sync 4 software, the 2025 Expedition has moved away. It runs Google Maps, Google Assistant, and other Android apps natively. BlueCruise, Ford’s hands-free driving system, is also included as standard on most trims and can be retroactively added or removed with a subscription plan.
Safety
Crash-test data and safety features for the 2025 Ford Expedition are not yet available as of this writing. We expect the same standard equipment, such as forward emergency braking, to carry over from the 2024 Expedition, potentially with new additions for the new model year.
One key advanced driver-assistance feature is BlueCruise, Ford's hands-free highway driving technology. The Expedition Platinum Ultimate and King Ranch will come standard with one full year of BlueCruise, and shoppers who purchase other trims will have the option to order it for $495. Ford is also now offering a one-time BlueCruise purchase for $2,495.

Pricing and Release Date
Though Ford has not yet shared pricing information, we expect the 2025 Expedition to start just under $60,000 for the Active trim and crest $90,000 for the Platinum trim with the Ultimate package. The 2025 Ford Expedition is currently slated to arrive at dealers in the spring of 2025.
