The Trax has held down the entry point to Chevy’s SUV lineup for years, and it got a major overhaul for the 2024 model year that made it far better than before. The Trax now offers a solid value proposition, good interior space, and a nicer cabin than its price tag suggests. At the same time, buyers should not expect a thrilling experience, and Chevrolet does not offer all-wheel drive (AWD) for the Trax.

What’s New for the 2025 Chevrolet Trax
Following the redesign for the 2024 model year, the 2025 Trax has no substantial changes. That said, Chevy did introduce two new paint colors for the model year: Cypress Gray and Marina Blue.
Design
The Trax’s friendly, rounded shape gave way to a more modern design with last year’s redesign. The crossover is now more upright and boxier than before, and its front-end look features a funky split headlight configuration that houses the LED daytime running lights (DRLs) in the upper light units and the headlights in a lower unit below.
Powertrain
Chevy offers one powertrain option for the 2025 Trax. It’s a turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine, which makes 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. Power reaches the front wheels only through a six-speed automatic transmission. There’s not enough power and torque to make the three-cylinder a thrilling engine, but the use of a legitimate six-speed automatic transmission instead of a continuously variable unit (CVT) makes all the difference in the Trax’s daily drivability.
The Trax isn’t the most agile entry in its segment, but it does a good job at ironing out the worst road imperfections. At the same time, it offers up to 32 mpg on the highway, giving it excellent fuel economy for its segment.

Interior
The 2025 Trax comes standard with cloth upholstery, but higher trims add synthetic or genuine leather options. Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel are available. Though small, the Trax offers a decent amount of front-seat space, and the front buckets are generally comfortable on longer drives. Adults may find the back bench to be cramped, and three across in the second row can quickly reveal the Trax’s size limitations inside.
Technology
Chevy equips a standard 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the 2025 Trax. Other standard tech includes SiriusXM radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, USB inputs, Bluetooth, and four speakers. More expensive trims step up to an 11-inch display and an 8-inch digital gauge cluster, six speakers, wireless charging, and more.
Safety
The 2025 Trax hasn’t been crash-tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) yet, but Chevy includes a generous number of advanced driver aids. Forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, rear-seat alert, and GM's Teen Driver Mode are standard. Available features include blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and adaptive cruise control.

Pricing and Release Date
As of the time of this writing, the 2025 Trax starts at $21,495 after destination. Prices climb to $25,395 for the top 2RS trim.
