What’s New for the 2025 BMW 4 Series?
For 2025, the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe receives several updates, including refreshed headlight and taillight designs. Under the hood, a new 48-volt mild-hybrid system boosts output and efficiency. Inside, the 4 Series gets the latest BMW infotainment system, housed in a large curved display.
Design
The 4 Series features sleek headlights framing a large front grille that extends the entire vertical length of the front-end design. It is a polarizing design, to say the least. Trims are 430i and M440i. The 430i comes with 18-inch wheels as standard, while the M440i offers new 19-inch M double-spoke and Y-spoke designs in various finishes. It’s also available with 20-inch alloy wheels.
Powertrain
The 2025 BMW 430i is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine that delivers 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The M440i ups the ante with a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, producing 386 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque. Both engines come paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and work in a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is standard on the 430i, with BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive (AWD) system available as an option. The M440i comes standard with xDrive.
Depending on body style, the 430i will get from zero to 60 mph in the 5.4 to 5.6-second range. The M440i will go from zero to 60 mph in the 4.2 to 4.9-second range.
The RWD 430i coupe is the most efficient version of this car, returning 28 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined. The least-efficient version of the 4 Series is the M440i Gran Coupe with xDrive. It returns 25 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined. The 4 Series requires premium fuel.

Interior
Standard features in the 430i include power-adjustable front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, a moonroof, and remote keyless entry. Available features in the 2025 4 Series include heated front seats, ventilated front seats, genuine leather upholstery, and a heated steering wheel.
The trunk space in the coupe offers 12 cubic feet and the convertible has just nine cubic feet. The Gran Coupe provides 16.6 cubic feet of cargo space accessed via a convenient rear hatch. This area can be expanded to 45.6 cubic feet by folding the rear seats.
Technology
BMW equips the 4 Series with the latest iteration of BMW’s iDrive system as standard equipment across the lineup. It features a 14.9-inch touchscreen and includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims come with a Harman Kardon audio system.
Safety
The 4 Series comes equipped with a comprehensive set of standard driver-assistance features. These include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, driver attention alert, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and adaptive cruise control.
Additional driver-assistance features, such as reverse automatic emergency braking, stop-and-go adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree parking camera system, and a head-up display are found on higher trims or available in upgrade packages.
