What’s New for the 2024 Tesla Model S
The 2024 Tesla Model S is largely a carryover from the 2023 model year.
Design
The Model S features standard 19-inch wheels and is available with up to 21-inch wheels. The Model S also features a panoramic glass roof.
Powertrain
The base Model S is equipped with dual electric motors producing 670 horsepower, enabling a zero-to-60-mph time of just 3.1 seconds. The Plaid model ups the ante with three electric motors generating a combined 1,020 horsepower, slashing the zero-to-60-mph time to an astonishing 1.99 seconds. Both powertrains come with all-wheel drive (AWD) and utilize a single-speed automatic transmission.
The Model S offers an impressive range, with the base version achieving up to 402 miles on a single charge, while the Plaid model delivers around 359 miles. Thanks to Tesla’s Supercharger network, up to 200 miles of range can be added to the Model S in just 15 minutes of charging.

Interior
The cabin is appointed with premium materials, including vegan leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel. The Model S offers spacious seating for five adults and includes 28 cubic feet of cargo space, expandable to 61.4 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down. The front-trunk, or "frunk," provides an additional 3.1 cubic feet of storage.
Technology
At the center of the dash, a large 17-inch central touchscreen controls most of the vehicle’s functions. There is also a secondary display for rear passengers and a 12.3-inch digital driver display. The infotainment system does not support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The Model S comes standard with an impressive 22-speaker sound system and wireless charging for multiple devices.
Safety
The 2024 Tesla Model S comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of standard driver-assistance features. These include forward collision warning, side collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning. It also comes with lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic-sign recognition, and Autopilot, which provides partially automated highway driving. You can also get the Model S with automatic high-beam headlights and camera-based front and rear parking sensors.
In addition to Autopilot, the Model S offers high-tech driver-assistance features such as automatic lane change, Summon (the ability to allows the vehicle to return from a parking spot to your current location, Smart Summon (the ability for the vehicle to self-navigate through complex parking lots and garages), and “Full Self-Driving (Supervised)” capability.
