What’s New for the 2024 Nissan Armada
The Nissan Armada carries over mostly unchanged for 2024, though Nissan discontinued the base S trim. The Armada has seen few changes since a styling refresh for the 2021 model year and this generation’s debut as a 2017 model. Though seven years isn’t really too long to go without a redesign, the Armada tends to look and feel outdated.
Design
Like most truck-based SUVs, the Nissan Armada looks big, boxy, and largely out of place amongst more streamlined crossover SUVs. It has a high and wide stance, a squared-off profile, and plain, straight sides. However, though the Armada might be dull, it isn’t unattractive. That description is better used for the more-expensive but otherwise similar Infiniti QX80.
Powertrain
The Armada’s standard V8 engine is one of its best attributes, offering smooth and potent acceleration. The 5.6-liter is rated for 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, and it comes paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) comes standard, and four-wheel drive (4WD) is available on every trim. Fuel economy is poor with the former and even worse with the latter. RWD models come in at 14 mpg city and 19 mpg highway, and those numbers drop to 13 city/18 highway with 4WD.
Interior
The three-row Nissan Armada is comfortable and spacious, and adults will find the first two rows plenty large enough.
The Armada is available with seating for seven or eight, depending on whether it’s equipped with captain’s chairs or a bench in the second row. Nissan provides cloth upholstery and power-adjustable front seats, with upholstery upgrades, heated and cooled front seats, heated second-row seats, and a heated steering wheel available.
Most competitors have more cargo space, though. The Armada has a scant 16.5 cubic feet behind the third row, which opens up to a maximum of 92.6 cubic feet with all seats folded down.
Technology
Nissan equips the 2024 Nissan Armada with standard keyless entry, a 7-inch digital instrument display, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, wired Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay, navigation, and four USB ports. Nissan offers the Armada with Amazon Alexa, remote start, wireless smartphone charging, a second-row entertainment system, and a Bose premium stereo.
Safety
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) awarded the 2024 Nissan Armada an overall safety rating of four out of five stars. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has not evaluated it as of this writing.
Every 2024 Armada includes forward collision warning, reverse collision warning, forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, driver-attention monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, and a rear-seat reminder system.
Pricing and Release Date
The 2024 Nissan Armada is available now. As of this writing, Nissan lists pricing for the base Armada SV at an MSRP of $56,520. The SL starts at $60,340, and the Platinum starts at $68,590. Budget an additional $3,000 to add 4WD on each trim, and note that these prices do not include a destination charge of $2,010.
