What’s New for the 2024 Nissan Ariya

The 2024 Nissan Ariya marks new territory for the brand in terms of design and capitalizes on the success of the affordable and groundbreaking Leaf. Though the Ariya has no notable changes for 2024, it’s just in its second year, and it impresses with sleek design and great performance options at a competitive price.

Design

Most of Nissan’s car and SUV lineup is marked by big, broad panels broken up with small, angular connecting pieces. Along the profile, in particular, the Ariya distinguishes itself with smooth, sleek sides and sloped front and rear rooflines. The Ariya gets distinctive front and rear lighting and thin taillights, standing out from the crowd thanks to its subdued elegance.

Powertrain

The Ariya’s powertrain lineup is convoluted, and Nissan would do well to streamline it for the sake of shoppers. The base powertrain features a 63-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack and a 160-kilowatt (kW) motor, rated for 214 horsepower. This powertrain comes standard with front-wheel drive (FWD) but is also available with all-wheel drive (AWD). At this point, you can upgrade to an 87-kWh battery, and beyond that, a 178-kW motor that boosts hp to 238. From there, there are numerous battery and drive configurations. The Ariya’s range varies from 205 to 304 miles on a single charge.

The infotainment system comes standard with wired Android Auto and Wireless Apple CarPlay, as well as Amazon Alexa, keyless entry, push-button start, and ambient cabin lighting. There are few extra-cost options beyond wireless smartphone charging and a 10-speaker audio system.

Safety

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) awarded the 2024 Nissan Ariya an overall safety rating of five out of five stars, while the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has not yet crash-tested the 2024 Ariya.
