What’s New for the 2024 Lexus LS Hybrid
Lexus made few changes to the LS Hybrid for the 2024 model year, with the most notable update being a few more standard features for all models.
Design
The current LS is sportier-looking and sharper than previous generations, but there’s more bark than bite when it comes to performance. It gets the traditional Lexus spindle grille, and its side body panels are nicely sculpted for an aerodynamic look. The car rides on 19- or 20-inch wheels, depending on the configuration, but the Hybrid lacks the available F Sport package offered for the standard gas car.
Powertrain
The 2024 LS Hybrid gets a 3.5-liter V6 and a pair of electric motors making a combined 354 horsepower. All-wheel drive (AWD) is standard, and power reaches the wheels through a multi-stage hybrid transmission. Though it’s down on power compared to its gas sibling, the LS hybrid’s near-instant torque helps it feel surprisingly quick. Acceleration from zero to 60 mph takes 5.2 seconds, and the car offers a compliant ride in most situations.
Though it’s a hybrid, this large sedan's fuel economy is only decent. While the gas model delivers 27 mpg on the highway with AWD, the LS Hybrid returns 29 mpg, not a significant upgrade for the additional cost it brings.
Interior
The LS Hybrid brings a posh interior with spacious seating for five people. Leather upholstery comes standard, along with heated and ventilated front seats with power adjustment. Buyers can upgrade with premium leather options, and Lexus offers a few interior color schemes. The cabin is attractively designed, and the simple control layout makes piloting the big LS a breeze.
Technology
Lexus equips a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen in the 2024 LS Hybrid. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, 12 speakers, dual-zone climate control, and six USB ports are standard. A Mark Levinson stereo, rear touchscreen, and quad-zone automatic climate controls are available, and buyers can add a panoramic sunroof for an additional charge.
Safety
The LS Hybrid hasn’t been crash-tested in several years, but it comes with a load of safety tech that should inspire confidence. Standard driver aids include automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, LED headlights, parking sensors, and automatic windshield wipers. More expensive configurations come with an advanced highway driving-assistance system, a large head-up display, front cross-traffic alert, and more.
Pricing and Release Date
As of this writing, pricing for the 2024 Lexus LS 500h starts at $115,560. While that price includes the $1,350 destination charge, it doesn’t include more desirable paint colors, interior upgrades, and other features that quickly push the price skyward.
