2024 Lexus LS Pricing, Specs, and Release Date

Full-size cars are nowhere near as popular as they used to be, with some automakers ditching the format altogether. Luxury brands are more committed to the space, and the Lexus LS is one that is sometimes overlooked in favor of plusher and sportier options from Europe.

What’s New for the 2024 Lexus LS

The 2024 LS didn’t get many changes, though Lexus added a few standard features for the new model year.

Design

The LS has seen several design changes over its long life, though the latest iteration, which launched for the 2018 model year, is the most aggressively styled version to date. Lexus gave the LS its massive grille with large front air vents, and it looks surprisingly sporty from the side. The rear-end design is fairly traditional and lacks the wild taillight shapes and large badges of some competitors.

Powertrain

Lexus went with a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 for the 2024 LS. It makes 416 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque and sends it to the rear or all four wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission. That significant power output propels the car to 60 mph in under five seconds, but the LS sedan's hefty weight and size are noticeable at almost all times.

The LS delivers a mostly smooth ride, which becomes even comfier with the available adaptive suspension system. That said, the car isn’t as plush as some rivals are, and the larger available wheel sizes further disrupt the ride quality. Despite that, the LS is fairly quiet inside and does a good job of isolating its passengers from the chaos outside.

2024 Lexus LS - interior

Interior

The five-seat LS has standard leather upholstery with heated and ventilated front seats. Quilted or semi-aniline leather upholstery are available, and buyers can add massaging features to the front seats. Heated rear seats are also available, along with reclining rear seats, power rear sunshades, and a rear power-deployable footrest.

Technology

Though the LS’s infotainment system is more complicated than it should be, it runs well on the 12.3-inch touchscreen, and the 12.3-inch gauge cluster provides a clear, crisp view of the most pertinent vehicle information. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with voice commands, 12 speakers, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and navigation. A Mark Levinson 23-speaker stereo, rear-seat touchscreen, and quad-zone climate controls are available.

Safety

Likely due to its expense, it has been several years since the LS received complete independent crash testing. Even so, Lexus equips plenty of driver aids, including automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, LED headlights, parking sensors, and automatic windshield wipers. More expensive configurations come with an advanced highway driving-assistance system, a large head-up display, front cross-traffic alert, and more.
