Transmission problems with Lexus RX?
I'm getting a 2007 Lexus RX350 with 141K miles. Its been serviced regularly
(about every 20K miles!) at Lexus dealerships and is in great shape. But I
recently heard that there are transmission issues with Toyota engines, which is
what I'm assuming is in a Lexus. Any advice?
This started with the RX300 and has been carried on, I purchased a Lexus RX300 with only 20K on it and immediately serviced the tranny and put in LubeGuard for Toyota in the transmission, from that time on every time it was time fr a service just added it back in and never had a transmission problem, at 135K it was totaled by an idiot crossing the centerline and hit my wife head on, the car saved her life but she was injured and did require some surgery but did make a full recovery, so it never made the 141K that is on the one your looking at, so it is really a coin toss on if it will be good or fail, but the fluid color will tell you if it is slipping, it should be a brilliant red in color, if it isn't then it could be slipping. You might want to consider taking it to a shop that does used car checks, it is money well spent especially if they do find something and if they don't then it can give you some piece of mind about buying it.
