Check your owner's manual. Some Silverados came from the factory with a tow package. My Nephew's '03 has it. His truck came with the square trailer hitch just under the rear bumper & a plug for the trailer brake lights. Sounds like yours is equipped for light duty towing though. HTH. -Jim

It should be stamped in the bumper the load weight and the tongue weight capacities. Sounds too heavy to be towed by a bumper hitch, I'd spring for a good class 3 or 4 hitch.

Does GM have a towing capacity decal on the drivers side door?

Looked on the bumper but could not find anything. However, i noticed that the bumper is bolted to the frame in three (3) different areas.

That sounds like an aftermarket bumper set up to me, could be a DeeZee or someone like that. Check on the backside or underneath of the bumper to see if there any specs on it. I still don't think it is strong enough to trust to tow your boat.

Thanks, I will check with the Chevy dealer. I have a hitch on order just in case.
