The 2023 Audi A6 displays the finer points of the modern luxury sedan. It is swift, sophisticated, and safe. The A6 was completely redesigned for the 2019 model year, and for 2023, it carries over largely unchanged. The A6 provides a spacious, high-tech cabin, as well as 13.7 cubic feet of trunk space, which is about average for the class.
Trims for the A6 are Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige. Standard fea-tures on the Premium trim include three-zone climate control, heated front seats, leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, and a 12.3-inch digital in-strument panel called Audi Virtual Cockpit. The A6 also features a dual-screen center console design. The lower screen operates vehicle func-tions, and the upper screen is home to the multimedia system, including standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Moving up to the Premium Plus trim adds wireless device charging, a number of additional driver-assistance features, and a Bang & Olufsen premium audio system. The range-topping Prestige trim adds ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, four-zone climate control, and a multi-color ambient cabin lighting system. For 2023, the Prestige trim is now optional with a suede headliner. Audi also offers the sportier S6 and high-performance RS 6 Avant, which are covered in separate reviews.
The base powertrain in the 2023 Audi A6 is found on models with the “45” designation. It is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 261 horsepower. “55” models feature a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that puts out 335 horsepower. Both engines are mated to a mild-hybrid sys-tem and route power through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission to Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive. Drivers can get the most out of the A6 with Audi Drive Select, which lets you switch between Com-fort, Auto, Dynamic (sport), and Individual drive modes.
The four-cylinder 45 powertrain returns fuel economy of 23 mpg city, 32 highway, and 26 combined. The V6-equipped 55 powertrain returns 21 mpg city, 30 highway, and 24 combined. The A6 requires premium fuel.
Standard driver-assistance features on the Audi A6 include lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, pedestrian detection, forward-collision avoidance, automatic emergency braking, and front and rear parking sensors. Optional features include a 360-degree surround-view parking monitor, head-up display, blind-spot monitoring, and night vision. For 2023, the A6 Convenience Package now comes with adaptive cruise control with lane guidance. The Prestige trim now comes standard with Remote park assist plus, which can be operated via the MyAudi app.
Base MSRP for the 2023 Audi A6 is $55,900 for the 45 Premium. The 45 Premium Plus and S-Line 55 Premium both start at $59,800, so for one price, you can choose between more creature comforts or higher perfor-mance. The S-Line 55 Premium Plus starts at $63,700 and the S-Line 55 Prestige starts at $69,500. The Audi A6 is backed by a four-year/50,000-mile basic warranty.
