As Tesla’s small car, the Model 3 fills a hugely important role for the brand. It must concurrently shine the light into the future of EVs while remaining within financial reach of most families. And while it largely succeeds at achieving those milestones, its upper trims, when fully optioned, creep well beyond the average price of a new car in the United States. Still, every Model 3 embraces most of Tesla’s identifying features and looks like a Tesla from the outside.
Inside, the Model 3 looks toward the future of simple design. It shares its glass roof with the Model S, and the 15-inch horizontally oriented touchscreen that manages nearly every secondary control yields a spartan yet futuristic look unlike anything else sold today.
The Model 3 comes in three trims: The Standard Plus trim comes with rear-wheel drive (RWD), and dual-motor Model 3s have all-wheel drive (AWD) and come in Long Range and Performance trims. Tesla claims 322 miles of range are available in the dual-motor models, while the standard trim offers a claimed 250 miles of range. Tesla says up to 172 miles of range can be replenished in 15 minutes at any of its supercharging stations, which are available around the world. Expect much slower rates for home charging. And unlike the Model S and Model X, drivers of the 3 must pay for supercharger use. The EPA rates the Model 3 between 113 and 141 miles-per-gallon equivalent, depending on its configuration.
Eighteen-inch wheels are standard on all trims, but 19-inch wheels are available for the Long-Range Dual Motor and Standard Plus trims.
The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration gives both the RWD and AWD versions of the Model 3 a 5-star overall crash test rating, its highest honor. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives it a Good rating, its highest score, in all six of its crashworthiness categories. The Model 3 uses the same battery-in-floor construction as the larger and more costly Model S sedan to achieve a low center of gravity and enable above-average cargo space for a car in this segment.
Tesla’s Autopilot driver-assist system can accommodate automated driving on freeways between on- and off-ramps, according to the company. All Teslas come with the hardware for full self-driving capability on surface streets, but enabling it is a $7,000 option. Expect the system to be subject to both hardware limitations and good judgement.
While other EVs that are similar in size, cost, and range to the entry-level Model 3, most simply aren’t as nice. Chevy’s Bolt EV, as well as the Kia Niro EV and Hyundai Kona Electric, costs about the same, but none of them offers the Model 3’s combination of svelte looks and from-the future feel.

I previously owned a Model 3 Long Range RWD and originally looked into purchasing a Long Range AWD. I instead purchased anPerformance. The car is absolutely amazing! The tech is amazing and feels great to know that I won’t feel the need to upgrade because of a new idrive update or even wishing that I added a feature that can’t be retrofitted. The cost of fuel is a dramatic distance I often drive 500+ miles per week and I saw the savings in week 1. I’m more than happy with Tesla!!!Mar 12, 2024

Tesla 3 is a very good car. Drives very smooth. Intuitive. Aut steer is an excellent feature. Always, always be alert. Dont mess with speed. Dont be rash. Take Tesla insurance, you save a lot. Stay below 90% score. Try charging at home, cheaper. If youre driving less than forty miles even 110v basic home charging is ok. You can use your dryer point for rapid charging like 35 miles an hour. Going on long trip use super chargers. Make your research about Tesla 3. Know more about Tesla vehicle. You will love it mostly.May 23, 2022

I’ve owned my Model 3 for two years and put over 40,000 miles on it and I’m completely blown away how much I live it!! It’s been flawless and the technology is amazing. Besides being REALLY fun to drive I love how I charge at home and never have to stop at a gas station. When I do drive to Las Vegas or Phoenix the Tesla super chargers are fast and there’s a lot of them. Take my word for it, only buy a Tesla BEV versus any other BEV if for the supercharger system alone.
I’ve had ZERO maintenance and NO warranty issues at all from day 1. The brakes are look like they just came from the factory due to regen braking. I’ve got FSD and it’s AMAZING!!

I have driven many cars including Audi, BMW, ..... This is my favorite so far. Have been driving it for about 1 month and 4000 miles. I love not having to go to a gas station and pay $3 per gallon for premium. I just plug it in at the end of the day. Love that I dont have to do oil changes, love that the brakes will last a lot longer, autopilot on the highway is great. So far great car. Tesla could use more Supercharger stations though. Tesla has by far the best fast charging network but could use more. I wouldnt buy any other full electric car right now because would be a pain to charge on long trips compared to TeslaOct 11, 2020

I have a complaint about the car dealer who was trying to sell me the Tesla Model 3 on your inventoryListing=289504561. I cancelled my purchase the same day I signed (on Saturday Jan 9) because I found out that purchasing the new model from Tesla was actually cheaper. They still want to force the sale.
