Love This Car... — I like the fuel efficiency, cost and stylishness of the vehicle. It is sporty, but does not lose its ability to be professional and classy. The 45-50MPG is fantastic and the Diesel TDI will go forever. I love this car.. Unfortunately, I am 6'5" and my Jetta Sportwagon TDI fits me better

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: 45-50MPG, stylish, comfortable, handles well

Cons: I am 6'5".  I actually fit better in my Jetta Sportwagon TDI

Made For America With German Engineering. — I have recently bought my VW Passat 1.8 TSI SE with Nav. Initially went to buy VW Golf then ended up with the Passat because of the size. I love the interior not being too busy. Very simple and decent. Very fun to drive, I live in Chicago with the temp below zero the car never rattles when you throttle like other sedan do in this segment. never shakes in highway with the heavy wind. Very good torque with this small 1.8 engine for this big of a car. Suspension is smooth. Steering is very light. Made for America with German Engineering.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Performance, Good Family Sedan, Excellent Handling, Space and Power.

Cons: Styling and Technology.

This basic Passat is a BALL to drive. The turbo comes online at under 2000 RPM and the power is smooth and controllable. Much bigger than an Accord, it rides and drives like a good German car should.

Looks/Style Ranked 2015 Honda Accord Sport worse.
"I prefer simple lines. The Accord is almost trying too hard with creases, bends, slathered chrome. It shouts Look at ME! The steath look of the Passat belies the fun you have when driving it."
Back Seats Ranked 2015 Honda Accord Sport worse.
"Bigger with much more comfortable seats."

2015 Volkswagen Passat S Review
says:
I am spoiled. I drive my 2001 Porsche boxster as a daily driver . We needed a family car. I drove the Toyotas corolla and camry and I felt a coma coming on. I test drove a base model Passat and felt hope for the future. The car has some spunk, quickness and agility. I thought it good manners in tight turns, did not over steer, very little body roll without being too stiff. The car handled simultaneous braking and cutting the wheel hard at 60 mph and recovered well when intentionally thrown off balance. Admittedly I did not try all the environmental control knobs but they were easily accessible when driving . Interior very acceptable ,comfortable and much larger than I would have judged from outside the car.

"I am 5 feet 10 inches 190 lbs and felt the Passat could have accommodated a much larger person than myself easily. "
Back Seats Ranked 2016 Toyota Camry worse.
"The Passats rear leg room was not compromised by a larger person in front seat with their seat pushed back."
Cargo Capacity Ranked 2016 Toyota Camry worse.

Family Car Ranked 2016 Toyota Camry worse.
"Felt safer. "
Value Ranked 2016 Toyota Camry worse.

Would Buy Ranked 2016 Toyota Camry worse.
"Superior maneveurabilty in the Passat means better driving experience and better accident avoidance, at least in my untrained driving hands."
