I fell in love with the car the moment I saw it. After the test drive the deal was set. I love the features in the car and the way the car handles the road.

7 On A 10 Scale —

Great appearance, with good fit and finish. Hyundai has come a long way in the Elantra's design and appeal over the last four model years. The build quality on the vehicle is good; However, the quality of each individual component is another issue entirely. Hyundai's warranty and service has thus far been absolutely unbeatable, and I do not use that word accidentally. UNBEATABLE. This car performs well among competitors in its class, but road noise in the 2011 and 2012 model years is downright excessive. Additionally, the thickness of the exterior body panels on the Elantra have always been less than that of other auto manufactures, and that continues to be the case through the 2015 model year. This exposes the vehicle to significantly more dents, dings and paint damage than one would expect, and it truly is a nuisance. As of this review, the vehicle has been to the dealer for warranty work and repair 9 times, not including normal maintenance visits, with a mileage reading of 21, 900 miles. The costs of those repairs is non-existent (no charge) under the Elantra's generous warranty. However, this has significantly affected my opinion of the vehicle, as the mileage and age of the vehicle would suggest a much more hassle-free ownership experience. I can honestly say that I love this vehicle, and HOPE to get ten dependable years of service with approximately 100,000 miles of reliable transportation. However, I would not recommend purchase of the Elantra to friends and family. Ever. Based on my ownership experience thus far, I fear that my expectations of this model are far reaching and unlikely to be attained.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: I use this car primarily for transport of myself and one child.  It is a GREAT car for a single person, and it is a GREAT car for a child.  Easy to clean, comfortable and roomy, with good gas mileage.

Cons: This car seems to have been developed with the maximum efforts and energy placed on design and appearance.  The OEM tire / wheel combination on this car looks great but is a definite detraction from the overall driver experience as the OEM tires will handle poorly in rain or even the lightest snow conditions.  Additionally, the OEM tires are prone to developing bubbles and bulges in even the most minimal potholes and other road hazards at speeds as low as 40 mph.  This is a common complaint among Elantra owners, dating back to the 2009 model year and continuing through the 2015 model year.

Great Sporty And Economical Vehicle — I love this car! I've had it for about 1.5 years, and I haven't had any troubles with her. I get great gas mileage, enjoy the ride, the seats are comfy, and it fits all of my luggage when I travvel. I live on the road 40% of the time, so that's important to me.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: gas mileage, fun car, spacious, attractive

Cons: none

Terrbile Winter Car — I've been in sales for 35 years and travel a lot so I have an opportunity to drive a lot of different cars all the time. I purchased a 2012 Hyundai Elantra and I'm really unhappy on how this car handles in the snow. I live in the midwest and last year we had little snow so I really had no idea how this car handled in the snow. This year it's quite different. If we had lots of snow last year I would not be driving this car at all this year. I would have sold it in the spring. This car stinks in snow. I can't even get across an intersection if it had snow ruts from other cars in the road. It also moves sideways on roads at 50 mph on the highway in cold conditions on snow covered roads. I've not experienced that kind of problem before with any car I've owned or rented.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Looks great!

Cons: Handles poorly in snow

Okay — My Hyundai Elantra is a very good car overall. I sometimes think the car is a piece of junk but its great for the cheap price. It's better than riding the bus at least yuck!Anyways, it great and cheap so I recommended it to peeps out there.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: It's cheap and a great family car

Cons: Everything else

Great Value And Quality Packed Into This Smaller Car — All the articles I read before buying this vehicle summed it up accurately; the overall handling of the Elantra is out of its class. It has the smoothest most comfortable ride and good turning radius. Also, the fuel economy is stingy at 40mpg with the "ECO" button active. While you are saving dollars at the pump, you won't be winning any races, though.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Fuel economy is incredible at 40MPG.  Handling is exceptional; it ranked first in its class when compared to 9 other makes. Reliability is comforting; "America's Best Warranty"

Cons: Car is too small for my needs.  I need more cargo space.  The fuel economy sacrifices acceleration and power.

From Zero To Hero — The 2012 hyundai elantra is a very well rounded car, it offers a lot of value for money and turns heads on the streets. The engine provides plenty of punch and consumes fuel miserly. However it also has it own share of flaws like low headroom for both front and rear seats.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: The 2012 Hyundai Elantra is a handsome car and is equipped with a spritely and fuel efficient engine. It offers good leg and shoulder room as well as capacious trunk space. The manual transmission engages with positive shifts and the handling is good

Cons: The headroom is low, no split folding rear seats for the base model

Alotof Of Car For The Money — liked to gas milaege about the car and lots of head room, not a bad trunk space, would love to have some more power bur dont want to sacrifice from gas milaege. I also like the warranty on the car.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Gas Milaege

Cons: Blind spots
