Though it mirrors its front-wheel-drive sibling in all other standard and optional features, the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox LT1 AWD adds full-time all-wheel drive (AWD) to its list of capabilities. A center-mounted, mechanical, limited-slip differential manages the AWD system for worry-free travel on slick roads.
A standard 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder (I4) powerplant and six-speed auto-manual transmission give the 2011 Equinox LT1 AWD some 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque. Mileage is estimated at 20/29 mpg, and towing capacity is 1,500 pounds. If, however, more oomph is needed, the LT1 AWD is also available with a 3.0-liter V6 and six-speed auto-manual transmission with the brake hill holder feature. This matchup puts out 264 hp and 222 lb-ft of torque to the tune of 17/24 mpg. Towing with the E85-capable V6 jumps to 3,500 pounds with the optional tow package installed, while 18-inch aluminum wheels are standard on all V6-equipped trims.

The 2011 Chevrolet Equinox LT2 front-wheel-drive (FWD) five-passenger mini ‘Ute gathers all the features in its lesser Equinox brethren and adds a standard rear-view camera, remote engine start, heated front seats with an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, upgraded leather and simulated alloy trim, and eight-speaker Pioneer premium audio. Added options include DVD navigation, a power liftgate, and rear-seat DVD entertainment. Safety-wise, rear parking sensors are optional with the LT2, while front fog/driving lights are standard.
Standard power for the 2011 Equinox LT2 comes from a 182-hp, 172-lb-ft/torque 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine (I4) and six-speed auto-manual transmission with brake hill holder. Chevy touts 22/32 mpg with the I4, as well as 1,500 pounds of towing capacity. An optional powerplant for the LT2 is a 3.0-liter Flex Fuel V6, again with the six-speed auto-manual transmission. This six-banger generates 264 hp and 222 lb-ft of torque, gets some 17/25 mpg, can haul 3,500 pounds of trailer when the available towing package is selected, and includes 18-inch aluminum wheels and driver shift selection with the six-speed auto-manual transmission.

The 2011 Chevrolet Equinox LT2 AWD five-passenger crossover mirrors its front-wheel-drive (FWD) sibling in everything except its drivetrain. As implied, this snazzy ‘Ute is equipped with all-wheel-drive (AWD) for significantly more go in the snow. A mechanical, center-mounted limited-slip differential ensures full-time power to all four wheels.
Standard power for the 2011 Equinox LT2 AWD comes from a 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder (I4) engine. When managed by its standard six-speed auto-manual transmission with brake hill holder, this four-banger puts out 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque, to the tune of 20/29 mpg. Also available in the LT2 AWD is a 264-hp 3.0-liter E85-capable V6 engine that, when accompanied by its standard six-speed auto-manual transmission, throws down 222 lb-ft of torque and gets 17/24 mpg. Towing capacity with the V6 is increased to 3,500 pounds with the optional trailer-towing package. Additionally, 18-inch machined aluminum wheels are standard when the six-banger is selected.

Such extra niceties include leather upholstery, dual reverse-tilt exterior mirrors, Sun Sensor lighting and climate control auto-adjustments, and memory for driver's settings. Option-wise, the LTZ offers chrome-clad 19-inch wheels with the optional V6 engine, and added standard safety features include rear parking sensors.
The flagship 2011 Equinox LTZ packs the 182-hp, 172-lb-ft/torque 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder (I4) engine and six-speed auto-manual transmission with brake hill holder that are standard throughout the lineup. Anticipate 22/32 mpg and 1,500 pounds of trailering capacity with the four-banger. If a tad more vroom is wanted, however, the 2011 Equinox LTZ also offers a 3.0-liter Flex Fuel V6 engine, again with the six-speed auto-manual. This puppy nets 264 hp and 222 lb-ft of torque, can tow 3,500 pounds of trailer with the optional towing package installed, and gets an estimated 17/25 mpg.
