the engine with water pump inside has been a colossal failure . My engine blew up and no one knew what to do till I stumbled on one smart Head Of Service . th e expense of a new engine can be $10,000 , to change water pump at about 85,000 miles costs $2400. all CX-9 models from 2010 through 2015 have the same problem . I own three Mazdas which are in that time range . beware used car prices and dealers . CX-9 is sporty , handles well, has more usable space than my Grand Cherokees and is fun to drive . whats under the hood is a menacing engine and huge repair bills know what you are in for

I have been so happy with this car. The features are great and has worked really well for my family. (I have the Grand Touring model) Good amount of room for a smaller 3 row vehicle and I feel it drives more like a car than SUV, which I like. Most of the time I have the third row down and it has lots of cargo space. Third row is great if needed for that extra person or two. This model is a little dated in that it doesnt have USB ports, but it does have a CD player which is great for my old CDs. I mostly use the bluetooth feature for music anyway. Ive never had an engine or major issues with this car. I did have to replace the window motors, but it was ~$50 and super easy to replace myself. I have been so happy with this car, I looked into buying a newer model. I found the newer models to be a bit smaller inside than my model year so I chose against it. The only major downfall is the gas mileage I get driving in Orange County traffic is about 16mpg.

Great Car !!! — Acceleration: Okay, due to the size of the vehicle Braking: great Handling: great Build Quality: No repairs so far, maintenance cost is low. Appearance: Great exterior, ok interior (but it's not a luxury vehicle) Cost of ownership: Good mileage on highway, local is quite horrible. Fun to drive!!!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: 7 seats, a lot of spaces!!! Nice Exterior !

Cons: Should have bought the AWD Version

Great Vehicle — I like the styling inside and outside the vehicle. The car has great build quality inside and outside. The build quality on the inside of the vehicle compares to a BMW 3 series. Really the only thing I don't like about the vehicle is the poor fuel economy. We get about 16 MPG combinded city/highway. The car has never needed to be repaired. The car's acceleration is very good. There is a slight wind noise through the front windows when driving on the highway which is annoying. I feel extremely safe in the car as it is very solid. This was the first Mazda I have ever owned and I can say that I'm extremely impressed with the overall quality of the vehicle.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Styling, cargo room, reliability, handling, acceleration

Cons: gas mileage, wind noise through front windows.
