The 535I is a recent purchase. So far I love it. I have an older model 525I 2007 for a number of years which I have thoroughly enjoyed!! The cabins on both cars are very roomy!

A Sporty Sleeper In Disguise — Fun driving, sports sedan ONLY as BMW can formulate such a delightful balance between form and function. Tight as a drum, reliable, fun to drive easy or hard, corners beautifully and sticky. Rigorous German engineering through and through, this baby is fun as hell to drive as a daily driver or on a twisty back road with the sunroof pealed back. . Quiet, legendary TC low-end torque, 300 ft-lbs at 1400 RPM ... this classic inline 6 powered engine drives like it has a V8, with 27-29 mpg on the freeway, BMWs objective. Bi-twin turbos. No lag. Exceptional sound system has 14 speakers with Logic 7 & MP3 Capability. Full GPS and iDrive system, audio controls for voice activated systems is well executed. I would buy another 5 series in a heart beat. Best sedan I have ever owned, hands down. Still driving it today!

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: The 300hp/300 ft-lb torque I6 is smoother than a silk scarf running over your lovely ..., fit and finish is superb, quiet, corners like it is on rails.  GREAT handling, and a smooth manual 6 speed makes this thing a joy to drive.

Cons: Styling is left-overs.  The newer 2011+ models look better.  Blue-tooth does not transfer music over it.  Pillar makes egress difficult at times.  With the sport suspension, the ride can be harsh on rougher roads, but you get the great handling as payback.

Addicting! — This car is fun to drive. Very powerful on the road, people always compliment on how nice the car looks. Since I started driving the 5 series, I dont think I will be able to switch to any other car, simple as this.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Luxurious, Sport looks, great driving car.

Cons: Repair can be expensive. RWD not good in snow!

Love This Car — Love the car, great engine, don't need to worry about the turbo, or injectors it just runs smooth, keep up the maintenance and never have any issues. It is a great car, the only downside I would say is trunk space, it is a little limited especially when it comes to golf clubs.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Excellent vehicle, fun to drive, good fuel mileage, handles great.

Cons: not much to say here,

It's The Ultimate Driving Machine — It's my first 5-series and I love it - what more can I say? It's powerful, it handles extremely well, and it is very comfortable for long and short trips. The back seat is big enough for adults, the trunk can actually fit enough luggage for a trip, and the interior amenities are what you'd expect for a car of it's class.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: beautiful, powerful and comfortable car - that handles like a dream.

Cons: expensive, dark blue shows ALL road dirt, lacks hands-free entry and start, less than stellar fuel economy

Best Car I Ever Drove. —

Don't get me wrong, this is the best car I ever drove and ever owned, so I am being very critical. 'Currently own 2000 540i as well and find it to be superior to the 2010 550i in some ways; managed to get 37mpg following speed limit, in cruise on flat (540 does 42mpg), inferior leather stitching and finish compared to 2000 540i, car always trying to learn driving habits to adapt, not good due to daily bumper to bumper traffic commute - needs to be reset frequently - useless feature and annoying, results in eventual slow response, so must always remember to disable DTC and select sports mode, it's all or nothing. or reset the learning thing frequently. After reset, drives like a dream. Other negatives - no engine temp gauge, no sports console, no start lock feature (password code like 540i). A step up in electronics but a step down in workmanship. Having said all that, I drove the 2010 550i M sports pak from Calgary to Montreal (3500mi one way) in 3 days (and drove back of course) was great fun. Did the same from Calgary to Houston, 3 days too. Absolute great all round car for long trips and short speedy runs. Sitting in traffic is much more bearable with the great sound system. Stores CDs MP3 etc on built in 120gb hard drive, nav system is great, love the google maps send to my car feature, love the electric blind screen in the back and close it on tailgaters, the car is tough as nails. I drive tough and hard on my cars, all were done for after a couple of years. I still own and drive my first BMW, If the 550i can put up with my abuse, it's a damn good car. Having said that, they are both V8 engines, not so sure if the smaller engines could take my driving habits.

Pros: M Sports package, fast, reliable, luxurious, great sound system, looks good, great muffler sound, especially at +4000rpm, nav system, easy access feature.

Cons: car always trying to learn driving habits to adapt, not good due to daily bumper to bumper traffic - needs to be reset frequently - useless feature and annoying. no temp gauge, no sports console.

Nice Car, Excellent Ride — So far, my only concerns is my busted windshield after owning the vehicle for a week or 2. Frame noises from shifting gears. But I love the comfort of the car, i-drive, power, acceleration seems slow, when trying to drive slow. But if I'm looking for a burst of speed, the car definitely delivers. Driving modest, I can get about 30mpg, when going sport I see about 25mpg.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Excellent driving experience; comfortable ride

Cons: Expensive service to repair specific items; Well-known defective rear shield exploding during hot weather
