I like the size and scale of the Fit. I am a small person, and it fits me perfectly. I like that the console is straight forward, not too many high tech whistles. The gas mileage is great. The suspension is a bit tight, but I think that can be regulated with air pressure in the tires. That it has a rear windshield wiper is a great feature for where I live. Sturdy car if well-cared-for, small and economical but also has a flexible interior that can fold up to allow storage space. Feels like a small minivan. Is very simple inside, which means fewer accessories, but also fewer things to break and need fixing.Oct 11, 2021

I bought a 2009 Honda Fit Sport to replace a 2013 Honda Fit, which I regretted selling. Since 2009 was the year Honda increased the number of cup holders to 10, I am at a loss to identify any real differences between the two interiors.
The only thing missing is a spare key, which apparently was misplaced along the way.
In summary, from personal experience I find the 2009 Fit an ideal fit for someone looking for an affordable, big on the inside small car.Oct 03, 2021

I purchased this car new in Dec 2008 for the purposes of commuting to work 84 miles one way. It was fine for a few years, but I need something more comfortable now. This car is fine for someone that is driving in the city (on smooth roads), or short drives on the highway. The car is very attractive and sleek, but this look comes at a cost of an inefficient A/C on long trips in the summer. The biggest problem with this car is the awful ride with the low profile tires. You will feel every bump in the road. Never again will I get these kinds of tires on any vehicle. These wheels look 'cool', but ruin the ride.Sep 11, 2014

Plenty of interior room with many variations of seat configuration. Easy handling and good brake. Good fuel consumption and maintenance cost. Of course the engine is only 1.5 liter, the acceleration will be disappointed with full load of people. Overall it's a good car.Apr 06, 2014

Our 2009 Honda Fit has been a fun reliable companion since we bought it new. Our Fit has been a commuter car, pet transporter, cargo hauler, RV TOAD, and weekend getaway enabler.
Honda did a wonderful job designing the "magic" rear seats. With the seats in their upright position you can "fit" two actual adults in the back of the car without the front seat passengers having to eat the super long dash. With the rear seats fully collapsed into the floor, the "fit" transforms into a wonderfully roomy cargo/pet hauler with a flat floor.
Sure our little four cylinder automatic Fit could use a bit more power and it does get a bit buzzy on the highway, but it's hard to beat our experience of 36mpg average with a mix of city and highway driving. Handling is decent, although feedback is a bit numb, and braking is respectable, if a bit spongy at times.
One feature in the automatic sport is the ability to "sport shift" the automatic using F1 style steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. This feature can be slightly amusing but at the end of the day is a bit of a waste of time since the shifting isn't especially crisp when using the paddle shifters and the little four banger, while providing admirable fuel economy, is a bit buzzy and under-powered.
At the end of the day we love our little Honda Fit. For us it simply "Fit"s our lifestyle and needs.Sep 27, 2012

Overall a really good car. With Manual transmission it puts the fun back into driving. Economy is great getting upwards of 35 or better MPH on mixed use.
Plenty of cargo room for family of 5 passenger packing light loads.
Bike rack is OK on aftermarket towing package. Heavier racks can pull the nose up.

I have the Manual Transmission in mine and i think it responds a whole lot better then the Auto Transmission...I test drove both and I was happy with what I got. I love the very versitile way you can configure the interior to Fit almost what ever you need. I get about 38 MPG avg but I also like to get on the gas.. but you can easily get 40+ MPG out of this car. Aug 18, 2011

Performance: performance is weak. Had to add the Injen CAI and custom
exhaust. takes off quite fast but needs more
HP. with the CAI and custom exhaust its only putting out about 130HP
Build Quality: no repairs yet.
Appearance: looks lame

The Milano Red is the only free colour for my country (except for the white which I didn't like so much), and the Elegance trim is the basic to have air conditioning; very good to see that in 4 months the appearance still looks good even without washing it every week: the build quality is satisfacting. The best quality of my car are: space, performance and costs. It's like a minivan, I could throw anything in the trunk and still have enough space to sit my mates and go even for long rides. Performance is very good: with the smallest 1.2 liter engine I can even pass people who drive a 1.6 liter (average) and say "bye-bye" to most cars I see on streets. And the best is that my tank is full for most part of the week: consumes are very little! Honda didn't provide to offer bumper protection, so any piece of dust can seriously damage the beautiful-looking Milano Red. Talking about fun? You can drive a Ferrari, if you have lot of money... but if you manage to have a ride, to load tons of stuff and still want to save some coins the Honda Fit (Jazz, for my country) can also show you how have all of this and still have good accelleration and nice handling...on a city car! ^_^Jan 03, 2010

manual trans (the auto drives like a van), total cost of
ownership less than a Prius. Nimble, Light, Tight turning

I'm 6'2" and 290 pounds. Getting in and out of most subcompacts is a torture for me. Not so with the Fit. I can easily enter and exit this little car. after getting in it is a dream to drive. Very peppy and not nearly as much road noise as I was led to believe. The voice control for the audio and Navigation system is sweet. Much better than I'd hoped for. Country roads love this car as it carves curves like a good sport motorcycle without the lean. The seats surprised me with their comfort on extended trips. At my size they are still quite good. Not a lot of saddle sores afterward. I have the Sport and the suspension is a little bumpier than a full sized auto but since I traded in a 3/4 ton pickup for this, the ride to me is quite smooth. The foot pedal is 5 inches fromt eh ground - the seat design is not working - the depth is 20 inches which is terrific as the 19inch seats don't give enough thigh suppot - but this is not allowing the thigh to rest either - the hamstring and calf are getting pulled, the pelvis is rotated back straining the heck out of the ligaments. Poorly designed - the 2009 civic has the same deal - in regards to putting too much pressure on the driver's sacrum and tailbone - why did they change the seats? I have had 4 other ones without an issue. The cuv's don't provide enough depth to the seats creating pain in the thigh any suggestions in a new car? I have to trade this one in - I can't drive it .
