Lexus's RX 350 midsize car-based luxury SUV moves into its third generation in the 2008 model year. It retains its refined powertrain, comfortable ride, and very quiet interior, but it has a freshened front grille, optional seven-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels, and new exterior chrome door handles. An additional wood trim color - Black Bird's-Eye Maple - and two new exterior colors are available.
Many reviewers emphasize the sophistication of the powertrain. The all-aluminum 3.5-liter V6 produces 270 horsepower by means of the latest in electronic wizardry. For example, the engine's electronically controlled sequential fuel injection is coupled with Electronic Throttle Control with intelligence, or ETC-i. That little "i" manages idle speed, cruise control, and traction and stability control. This enables the engine to make the 0-60-mph jump in 7.3 seconds (front-wheel-drive model) or 7.4 seconds (all-wheel-drive model) while receiving EPA figures of 18 mpg city/22 mpg highway (FWD) and 17 mpg city/22 mpg highway (AWD). All this technologically sophisticated power flows through a five-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission that achieves a good balance between performance and economy. Reviewers find it a responsive and smooth drive.
The interior is also a technological wonderland, with a standard six-disc CD changer. Options include a rear-seat 9-inch-screen DVD-based entertainment system and a Mark Levinson audio system. The optional navigation system is voice activated and comes with a rearview camera. Other options include a laser-based adaptive cruise control system and rain-sensing wipers.
The RX 350 also provides technologically advanced safety equipment, with seat-mounted side-impact airbags in the front, a driver's knee airbag, and roll-sensing side curtain airbags to protect the front and rear seats all standard. Electronic stability control and a tire-pressure monitoring system are also standard. An optional adaptive front lighting system features high-intensity-discharge headlights that automatically follow turns to improve cornering visibility.
And all of this comes with Lexus's superior reliability and great resale value. One owner commenting on the RX 350 called it a "classic Lexus ride in an SUV." The care that Lexus put into every aspect of this SUV has made it the luxury standard for this class.
What owners say
"The 2008 Lexus RX is highly praised for its comfort, luxurious interior, and reliability, making it a favorite among drivers looking for a stylish and practical SUV. Owners love the smooth ride, spacious cabin, and the range of features that add to the luxury experience. However, some drivers noted the lack of modern features like seat warmers and an auxiliary port for music, which may be a downside for some."
A good car good price. It look like new even after 18 years.
April 14, 2026This vehicles interior and exterior are in excellent condition. The features are all original; especially love the wood grain look inside. This vehicle is a great value, as this generation of the RX 350 is well known to last hundreds of thousands of miles. I was also shopping the Toyota Highlander, which is comparable in size. Overall, glad to have purchased this one!
August 7, 2023This model won JD Power awards for initial quality in 2007 & 2008. Strong engine, very very comfortable. It all depends what you are looking for. I found that a used low mileage model is a great value, since factory powertrain warranty is 6 years or 70k miles. I personally like this style over the newer model. Power lumbar support on both front seats and one touch power windows on all 4 doors.

January 28, 2012Great features, great value. If no accidents and well maintained, should roll fine for 300K miles.
May 15, 2023Simply perfect! Clean, safe, lots of extras. We couldn’t be happier.
March 24, 2022This car handles great and is built perfectly around the driver. It has some impressive acceleration for a car it's size. The car was obviously built for the driver and the backup camera is spectacular. I really suggest this car if you're willing to spend $35,000 to &45,000 for a well outfitted model.
December 15, 2009Love the features, except for no seat warmers. Great car for the value.
February 27, 2024This is the best built car I've ever owned. Nothing in it feels cheap or flimsy. It rides great and is smooth and very quiet. My 2008 version has a cassette deck, which is a joke. I would like something a little more sporty, but I believe our next vehicle will be the same model because my wife loves it.
April 20, 2013very good car hasn't broken down or had any problems yet interior is very luxurious also get good mileage this car makes no noise while you are driving its just complete silents my suggestion by a lexus if you have the money
August 29, 2009Love this car! Its a perfect car for those who want a touch of class without paying an arm and a leg. All wheel drive, great turning radius, smooth and quiet ride. The heated seats, 6 CD changer, dual passenger air control, and rear passenger air control provide the perfect environment for travel. It is roomy, comfortable, and luxurious. A great value for the money!
