Acadias Are Great Until You Hit 60,000 Miles. — If you want a all wheel drive car filled with utility that is mildly underpowered that works great for 60,000 miles than the GMC Acadia is for you. The ride is comfortable and quiet, and handling is exceptional for such a large vehicle. BUT, this car is criminally unreliable. The transmission just died (wave plates were made of too soft of a material), the oil pan leaks because it has been sealed with glue (no bolts)-- no joke. And finally, the engine warning system caution lights just started doing very strange things. Each trip to the dealer cost $2000-$4000. The last drive was to CarMax and I'm now free of wondering whether my family will safely get to where they are headed. We finally gave up on a vehicle that looks to be in pristine condition, suited our family needs well yet has the reliability of a... well I guess GMC. Lesson learned for us to offer up to you, do not buy GMC. Hurts to write that, but the good news is that Toyota sells reliable cars that are now made in America.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Ride comfort, turn radius, and cargo.

Cons: Reliability, Low end rpm power response, GMC.

Totally Dependable And Reliable Car. — Great car for trips and for family in general. Definitely looking to stay with this truck for as long as I can. Kids love the DVD system in back and the space that there is to move. Also a big fan of the panoramic moon roof in the passenger area.

Pros: Big family car for those that dont want a mini van just yet. Spacious with 3rd row and captain seats in second row. Dvd system so kids can watch a movie on long rides. Also came with 3 sets of headphones so the kids can listen to the movie in back and we could play music up front. AWD definitely helps in the snow and rain, also towing.

Cons: Has a V6 engine but this baby is a gas guzzler. Not exactly sure what the ratings are for city/hwy but it sucks in the city. I lived in Chicago and had this car there for almost a year and I would fill up about twice a week.

Nice Driver — Overall, it's a nice vehicle if you need an 8 passenger vehicle. Has flexible seating and handles well even when fully loaded. My wife likes the power lumbar support for the passenger front seat. Usually, you only get that on premium level vehicles. Heavier on gas than I thought it would be but it can go over 400 miles between fill-ups on the highway.

Pros: Good looks, Quick turning radius for the vehicle size, Movable 2nd row seats, Nice Bose radio, Passenger power seat WITH power lumbar support, Comfortable ride.

Cons: No bluetooth, under powered, always down shifting at the slightest grade on the highway. Engine needs MORE torque. Only gets only 20 mpg on highway driving 65-72 mph.  Gets only 15-16 combined driving.

Pretty Awesome Suv — This is on heck of an SUV. It looks very impressive and rides very smoothly. The driving position is excellent and there are hardly any blind spots. This vehicle is loaded with features. Amazing overall, however one has to wonder about GMC and the reason why it's already leaking oil after only 100,000 kms...

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Luxurious ride, classy interior, smooth. Very quiet, great suspension.  Front and rear torsion bars make cornering better than with most cars. The 6 speed transmission is very smooth, the shifter has a button  on the driver's side to manually shift up or down, very convenient. The engine delivers the right amount of power, however it does have to shift down from 6th gear when going uphill. Comfort for everyone, even the rear bench is big enough for 3 adults, wich is a lot better than with other SUV's. This one has the Heads Up Display.

Cons: The Onstar system does not allow to pair a cell phone. After 100,000 kms there are two small oil leaks, one from the power steering.

Love The Acadia — Definitely luxurious and multi-purpose! Heated leather seats, DVD Entertainment system with wireless headphones, Heads-up display, auto-climate control - all make for a comfortable and safe ride! Easily seats 7 and room for storage too! The second row moon roof is a great plus for making it feel spacious and roomy in the back too! It includes an electronic screen if you want to keep the sun and light out too! The sunroof up front is controlled entirely separate and can be opened entirely, tilted for airflow, or close the moon roof cover to keep out sun and light.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Great looking, luxurious, extremely comfortable, reliable, multi-purpose, ability to take lots of gear or luggage, great audio system

Cons: Somewhat big for a family of 3
