Write a reviewThe 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe is a big, husky, four-door SUV based on a sturdy truck platform. With seating for up to nine passengers, the '08 Tahoe is one of the larger sport utility wagons on the road today.
But don't despair, green enthusiasts! The 2008 Tahoe (along with its GM cousin, the Yukon) is available as a two-mode hybrid. And even in the regular internal-combustion models, the folks at General Motors have put a lot of effort and research money into fuel efficiency; the results may not yet be dazzling, but they're working on it.
The 2008 Chevy Tahoe is available in five trims: LS, LT1, LT2, LT3, and LTZ. Each trim is offered in both a rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive version, all with an automatic transmission. Interior touches range from the comfortable (on the entry-level LS models) to the all-out glitzy (on the LT3 and LTZ trims).
The LT models come with a 5.3-liter V8 engine; a flexi-fuel engine (the same volume and output, only ethanol-ready) is optional. The LT's powerful fuel-injected plant puts out 320 horsepower and 340 lb.-ft. of torque, with estimated mileage of 16 city, 22 highway.
Standard for the '08 Chevy Tahoe LS models is a 4.8-liter V8 with an output of 295 horsepower and 320 lb.-ft. of torque; LS buyers can upgrade to the 5.3-liter mill.
With features like rack-and-pinion steering, independent front suspension, side curtain airbags, and all the other bells and whistles we're used to in high-end SUVs, the 2008 Tahoe offers comfortable, sturdy transportation. But it's not easy on the wallet, at the dealer's or at the pump.

Minnesota car and rust was a big issue underneath and on all doors. I had it inspected and the emergency brake did not function and had to be repaired. The 4 brake shoes are also rusted and will need to be replaced by me and the cost is unknown. There is a service tire monitor system light coming on the dash and 3 out of 4 tires are more than 10 years old and need to be replaced by me. The car hesitates at turn-on and is concerning. Overall we like the car but with all the issues we may have bought a lemon. May 02, 2022

Yes the truck is good value. The truck is missing nothing it has AWD, 4x4 , dvd video screen that is in the top that pulls down in the back seat for kids it’s very spacious for a family very spacious . I love the way this car rides and handles. The interior is very nice and it has all the options. The only draw back on this vehicle is the fuel economy. The gas mileage is aweful but luckily I do not have to drive it too many miles. We have a Avalon for trips and in town use.Dec 22, 2012

This Tahoe here was my second Tahoe within 3 years, so I guess you can tell I like this kind of s u v. Same as my 06 Tahoe, great room great height and great ride. I've had this truck for a mere 5 months now and I definitely love it. The 5.3 litre engine produces just the right amount of power in any given situation, whether on the freeway or in the city hauling furniture. I have an 08 z71 Tahoe and every time I get gas it always has trouble starting up just runs throw the starter and I turn it off and turn it back on and then it will crank over but starts at a very low idle and is rough for a few seconds then goes back to normal. only ever happens when getting gas starts up perfectly fine very other time. what do I do? and bring up code P0496

Battery drain on 2008 Chevy Tahoe
I bought a 2008 Chevy Tahoe LTZ.about 6 months ago. If I don't start it up at least once every 12 hours or so the battery goes dead. I've replaced the battery twice now, so I know it's not a bad battery. I'm not leaving anything on. I have double checked that many times. I even stopped locking it so the alarm wouldn't be on. Nothing works. Any ideas?
