The 2006 Lexus SC 430 received some minor exterior trim adjustments. A new six-speed automatic transmission replaced the five-speed. This second generation SC had received a much-needed redesign in 2001, and a new retractable-roof hard top coupe emerged. The SC 430, as its name indictates, utilized the same engine as the significantly larger Lexus flagship, the LS 430. The convertible coupe has also been marked by its high resale value. The SC engine was a 4.3 liter V-8, which provided 300 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. The coupe was surprisingly heavy. At over 3800 pounds, it weighed considerably more than the IS sedan, and earlier versions of the ES and GS series. Despite its bulk, the SC 430 accelerated form 0 to 60 mph in six seconds. Large brakes halted the SC from 60 mph to a stop in just 121 feet. Fuel economy was rated at 18/23 mpg. The SC 430 embodied the original Lexus goal of combining European styling and luxury with Japanese durability. The new SC design was the product of a collaborative effort with Europeans. The retractable roof seemed to be the hands-down favorite feature. Because the coupe was positioned at the high end of the Lexus price scale, its standard amenities were similar to that of the LS. A DVD-based navigation system, Bluetooth, Mark Levinson audio, walnut trim, and headlamp washers were all included.

Have had an 04 for 18 years and looks like new. No major problems but gas mileage for in town is quite low. Get many people asking me about the car and think it will be a classic like my former Mercedes SL560 in new condition. Needs regular maintenance of course. Like having a back seat area for storage when necessary, and for my golden Buddy. Usually have the top down with Bud’s head looking out the top. Looking for a lower mileage of the same car as I now have about 175k miles. Great car overall.Oct 11, 2022

It’s an incredible cruiser! So comfortable. The top is so easy to raise and lower, which is the main reason we wanted it, convertible for Southern California. cruising (Including quick trips to the grocery store). The previous owner average 13 miles to the gallon around town and 18 from the highway. We got over 20 on the highway. Back seat is just small enough for tiny children or a small dog. This car is for fun, and we are enjoying it!Aug 08, 2022

Its a beautiful car. However if you are 6 feet tall dont waste your time considering it. No matter how low or far back you position the seat, you wont fit. Also Despite pictures and options listed there really is no usable for a human to use back seat. I wouldnt even dare putty a baby seat back there. So if you are less than 6 feet tall and have no need for a practical back seat, this car is truly beautiful. Id have bought it in a heart beat if I fit.Jul 21, 2021

There are none to compare it to. A Lexus coupe convertible with an 8 cylinder engine and the highest quality interior possible. They dont make them like this anymore, get one while you can.Jan 13, 2021

This convertible is terrific. It has the famous, everlasting 4.3L V-8, plenty of power and which will probably run until 2050...handles great and is so smooth. Very lux ride. Comfortable. And looks very sharp; styling is clean and sharp. Good value too.Sep 28, 2020

This has to be one of the best cars ever!!! How many cars get attention everywhere you go and how many are almost 7 years old. Absolutely a fun car to drive, well built, solid and only option available was color, everything else comes standard including AM/FM 6 disk CD changer and cassette premium stereo, Bluetooth phone connectivity, leather seats and trim, real wood accents, navigation, memory seats and side mirrors, lighted door sills, adaptive headlamps and one button roof operation. On top of that, it is comfortable on long drives and the look and feel of luxury is top notch, but this is more luxury cruiser than a performance sports car although the 8 cylinder engine gets you past the speed limit uneventfully if you are not paying attention!Nov 26, 2012

If you want a world class sports car that rides like a large luxury car this is the one for you. The interior is spacious for two people and very well appointed. The leather and burled wood accents and excellent. The car is powerful (V8) and cruises effortlessly at turnpike speeds. Jul 23, 2012

Response to earlier question
I had sent a question that was answered by James Sparrow about an unauthorized credit report run by Mint Auto of Orlando. The answer was that I had apparently given my social security number to authorize the credit check. This is my response to Mr Sparrow’s answer. I didn’t give them my social security number and I definitely didn’t give my wife’s name and social security number. They ran both of our credit reports. The only thing I gave them was my name and address. I assume they used my address and phone number. I always stressed that the sale would be cash only with no financing. Needless to say I am disappointed in CarGurus for not being aware of this type of thing happening and assuming that I am responsible for Mint Auto’s fraudulent action. I think CarGurus should be contacting Mint Auto about this situation. I still have not decided about legal action as I still have all emails and texts to prove fraud. I would appreciate hearing back from CarGurus as to what actions you might take. I have emailed Mint about this situation and as I assumed have not heard anything back from them.
