Besides an option for AWD on the V6 trim and a few new exterior colors, not too much changed for the luxury sedan in 2006. The STS comes in two trims: V6 and V8. The V6 uses a 3.6 L, 255 hp V6 powertrain with 5 speed automatic transmission while the V8 uses a 4.6 L, 320 hp V8 engine. Both trims have 4 doors and seat 5.
On average, expect to get 16 mpg in the city and 24 on the highway. Standard features include air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, power/leather seats, cd player, ABS brakes, traction control, and stability control. Options include sunroof and navigation system. You and your passengers will have 103 cubic feet of room to stretch and 13.8 cubic feet in the trunk.
Overall, drivers have a lot to like about the 2006 Cadillac STS. The optional AWD in the V6 trim, optional Bose system in the V8, and low price for a full-size luxury sedan make the STS particularly appealing. On the other hand, reviewers can tell that this domestic vehicle doesn't quite measure up to its foreign competition when it comes to interior materials. The 2006 Cadillac STS gets a solid grade from its drivers as a capable successor to the acclaimed Seville.
What owners say
"Overall, owners of the 2006 Cadillac STS are quite pleased with its luxurious features and sporty performance. Many drivers appreciate the comfortable ride, impressive sound system, and stylish design. However, some have noted issues with navigation usability and road noise. The AWD option and smooth handling are also highlighted as strong positives."
These are nice cars for the money. Mine is loaded with features: navigation (which is just plain un-useable), DVD entertainment, rear heated seats, etc. The ride and handling are very good. Acceleration is Ok, not outstanding. Overall, I am very satisfied.
September 3, 2013This car is an amazing car to own! Im sure that anyone would love to own a Cadillac, especially as their first car! This car is extremely fast and the exterior and interior is beautiful! My family and friends and especially me all admire this car!
August 28, 2009This car is a beauty... Equiped with a touch screen GPS,xm radio accompianied w Bose surround sound speakers and sub. This car is a bit on the high end when it comes to price but it is an amazing machine! This car would be a great car to learn how to drive with because it has ABS brakes and also traction control and if it starts to slide on ice it recorrects itself and makes you continue driving straight.

July 31, 2008pros says it all. I liked the brushed metal trim instead of the cheesy plastic wood grain on some models. looks great since same body style '06 to '11 . Fun to drive around town and of course quiet cabin. Bose sound is great.
August 12, 2012The STS fits me best out of all the Cadillac s (I can afford). The CTS has nice body lines but I wanted more leg room. The DTS has more standard options and maybe a better ride for the highway driving types. But I wanted a sportier feel all around, the better gas mileage (v6 option) and AWD.
December 5, 2011I love car this car. Wish i could afford a newer model. Has everything i need, navi, leather, sunroof, and decent on gas! This car turns heads when i ride by. Really enjoy it. Thank for reading and hope you enjoyed the review.
May 6, 2014I really like and could use a big car like this. Im glad they quit using Northstar motors. The car is missing a good home or somebody will take care of it and drive it. Chrysler 300 or Buick lacrosse
