Write a reviewAfter a complete redesign in 2005, the 2006 RL built a little more on the technological aspects, but left the styling alone. A new optional RL technology package includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Mitigation Braking, and Michelin PAX Run-Flat Tires. Combined with the pre-existing features, this makes for a very safe car from Acura.
The engine on the 2006 RL lost some horsepower from 2005, but gained some torque. The only available engine is the 3.5-liter V6, rated at 290 horsepower and 256 lb-ft of torque. The 2006 RL requires premium gas, and gets 18 miles per gallon in the city and 24 miles per gallon on the highway.
Drivers loved the embedded technology in the car, including a year's free subscription to XM radio, the Bose stereo, and the navigation system with traffic information incorporated. The major complaints center on poor mileage and on the car being less luxurious than others in the luxury sedan class.

I like the car but if could redo my decision I would have gone with v8 BMW. Would not repurchase new one and now looking for BMW. Service is a bit questionable as dealer keeps recommending items far ahead of what the manual states.Apr 25, 2015

For a long distance commute car, you can not go wrong.
The Acura has been bullit-proof without exception.
The radio sounds great and very little outside noise due to the "Bose Active Noise Reduction" system.
Gas milage over the 150,000 miles average is 23.7 MPG with 290 hoursepower.
Acura dealers treat you very nice.

I've had four Acuras. The other three were TL's (1999, 2002 and 2004).
With the 2004, I got exposed to the voice-activated controls and dual AC.

Tires for a 2006 Acura RL
I bought my 2006 Acura RL used in 2016 with 80,000 miles. It had new tires on that were size 235. The original factory spec is for 245 size tires. I have now driven it about 11, 000 miles in 22 months and it seems just fine for me, a retired senior. Any reason to replace them next time with the larger (and more expensive) tires? I know I should replace all four at the same time.

Power Steering
My boyfriend is having problems with his power steering. The car he brought sat for a year however it has some power steering problems. He changed out the power steering pum and it was still not working. He then changed out the rack and pinion only to find out that he was actually sold a bad pump. He finally got a brand new one now but its still not working. he put in some power steering fluid but its still tight... What could be the problem

How do you remove the rear view mirror from an 2006 Acura RL?
The rear view mirror on my 2006 Acura RL is getting all sorts of odd shaped white lines inside the glass (some look like snowflakes). I bought an Acura replacement but I am having trouble removing the failing mirror. It appears to slide and snap into place but I'm not sure....
