great Engine Superb ride and handling no body roll drives like no other car; only issue are the costly labor repairs and oil leaks but once repaired can last you 300+ miles I still have mine . have owned it 18 years (2003)

Very Good — That it did not get the fuel mileage of a sedan is not on the plus side. Other than that, the only competition it has wears a three pointed star. It is tough, safe, sporty, fast and predictable. But I would not get it serviced at the dealer. Rather at a BMW specialist.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: Safe, fun, practical and predictable

Cons: Does not get fuel mileage of a sedan but does get one mile per gallon better than a smaller and slower Acura MDX and much better fuel mileage than the slower Lexus.

Great Family Car! Also Fun To Drive! — This car is a great reliable family car. For an SUV it is fun to drive and extremely responsive! Interior is extremely sharp and the seats are comfortable. Great for long drives and commutes. Safety features are top of the line!

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Great family car! Handles great and a fun SUV to drive!

Cons: Older model

Sporty Ride With Benefits — Engine oil leaks are a problem and expensive to repair; to the point of being ridiculous!!! Also transmission clunks that has been there since new. Not often you feel and hear it, but pretty annoying when it happens. Feels like someone hit your car from behind at 10 or 15 mph.

Pros: Handles better than most cars

Cons: Expensive to maintain

I did enjoy many of the features, but overall I prefer the more sporty feel of the X3. It definitely drove well for its size. Didn’t feel as large as it is, easy to drive. Read More
