Lazy on power, much slower vs the 94 Impala. ride quality is stiff and harsh. sound is dull and does handle well.

A Very Nice Ride — god i love this car...the exhaust sounds great...has a 4.6L v8 dohc...she has a nice prrr to it...black leather interior...and she has a big ol booty..definitly enought to put a huge system in it...not much else you can do to it...its got an engine, exhaust, rims, tires, its got alot of room inside...like i said not much you can do to it...but cruise or go really fast

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: everything

Cons: gas guzzler...could have a better system

Mm Ftw — The fact it attracts men and women of all ages alone awes me enough. Nothing is better than cruising and having everyone's attention on the road. Could have used more balls from the factory, but a simple tune awakens the beast within. Also can supercharge fairly easily and have a vette killer four-door.

Pros: Mach 1 engine easy to mod and work on.

Cons: Needed a blower from factory.

Trilogy Marauder — I like that with limited modifications you can really wake this car up. I absolutely love the fact that nobody ever sees these cars coming, you are just written off and then you can show up damn near everything out there. F-bodies, Mustangs, Vettes, they have all fallen.

04 Mercury Marauder — Full size sedan with plenty of passenger/cargo space comes standard with 18" staggard tires and rims and powered by a Ford Cobra II V-8. Likes: Wide tires provide great handling for this 2+ ton car. BF Goodrich Z rated tires. True dual exhaust with chromed pipe tips (produces a nice exhaust note) Retro style instrument panel with analog needle meters and gauges. Alpine Sound System w/ 6CD changer Heated front bucket seats Side impact airbags Dislikes: Expensive to drive: 18-20 mpg. and expensive low profile BFGoodrich Z-rated tires Uninspiring interior (would have preferred a more Lincoln style interior) Donut Spare (2004) and spare placement in trunk configuration

2004 Mercury Marauder 4 Dr STD Sedan Review
says:
Better all-around car than the Impala, as a daily driver, but is a bit behind in pure performance. Motor is peaky with less low-end than the Impala. Brakes, always a Ford weak spot, are not bad but less effective than the Impala. However, it is a car that does nearly everything well. Better driver environment with clearer gages, more luxury and adjustability. Air suspension pretty cool. Great road car with long legs. Younger car means I was able to insure reasonably easily. Very competitive with the Impala SS, too bad they didnt compete within the same time span.

Power Ranked 1996 Chevrolet Impala 4 Dr SS Sedan better.
"Low end torque in the Impala fits better with the size and weight of the car. Chevy throttle is more linear, the Merc throttle is abnormally weighted toward the first bit of travel (the car mags call this throttle tip-in.)"
Handling Ranked 1996 Chevrolet Impala 4 Dr SS Sedan better.
"Handling is very close but the Impala has significantly better brakes. "
Looks/Style Ranked 1996 Chevrolet Impala 4 Dr SS Sedan worse.
"The bathtub styling of the Impala comes in second to the plain, but purposeful styling of the Merc. There is no advantage here that would change a Chevy Man into a Ford Man, but Ford is the winner here."
Front Seats Ranked 1996 Chevrolet Impala 4 Dr SS Sedan worse.
"Close call, perceived slightly better room, adjustability, and position in the Merc."
Back Seats Ranked 1996 Chevrolet Impala 4 Dr SS Sedan worse.
"Close to Even but had to make a choice. Impala windows didnt roll all the way down and are breakage-prone. Think Marauder back seat passengers would have a better experience."
Cargo Capacity Ranked 1996 Chevrolet Impala 4 Dr SS Sedan worse.
"Made this call due to the deeper trunk in the Marauder. Probably would have called this one Even but I had to choose one way or the other."
Family Car Ranked 1996 Chevrolet Impala 4 Dr SS Sedan worse.
"The Marauder has more convenience features, such as friendlier gages, more driver position adjustability, and some cupholders. Other than that they are very close. Why are cupholders so important? Because no one wants to spill their stuff all over the interior of a special interest car, and no one wants to have to modify the originality of the car to create the cupholders. "
Value Ranked 1996 Chevrolet Impala 4 Dr SS Sedan worse.
"Prices on the Marauder are running about even with the Impalas, with the Impala older and harder to insure - not impossible, but more difficult. Really, this boils down to condition, mileage, originality, and option levels. I would have gladly bought either one but found the best value locally with a Marauder with desirable options and colors."
Would Buy Ranked 1996 Chevrolet Impala 4 Dr SS Sedan worse.
"Slightly better car all around but wow, a close competition. See comments on Value for details. If I had kept looking, since I was trying for a daily driver, I would have shifted toward a 1995 model Impala so that I would not have to modify the interior. Digital gages on the 95 would have been a reluctant compromise to live with."
