2003 Subaru Baja AWDReview

A Ride Ahead Of Its Time — I put most of my comments up above, all I can say is I enjoy this little car/truck immensely. I find it a real shame that the general public did not catch on more to these fantastic little rides. Only now are they in much bigger demand nearly a decade after they stop production due to lack of interest and overstock. I'd love to see Subaru bring them back one day and put the bigger engine in them. I'll miss my little "Baja-Breez" Fair thee well... Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Great little car/want to be a truck. Hi drove her up and down Mount Rainier every day in the dead of winter tons of snow and ice, whilst I was working on the rebuild for Paradise Lodge. I didn't have snow tires, and never had to chain up once! In the latter part of 2007 while moving back to this year mountains of California, I was pulling a lightweight trailer with a bunch of my stuff in it and still get excellent highway mileage all the way down, around 25/26 mpg. I kind a hate to let her go but because I'm alone now, she needs a family to ride in her and I need a convertible two-seater. Cons: It's hard to think of any cons for this little car/truck, Subarus are just great! If I had to pinpoint one I'd say that little Baja sure could have used the high output engine they put in the WRX 's. |

Subaru Baja Sport Review — All around great truck. Great trail clearance. Very stable platform. Comfortable passenger cabin. Rear seats are adequate for taller passengers. Baja's were well built and ours always received positive remarks. The 4 seating option is the only negative. The pass through was very helpful especially when I had to run to Lower for plumbing or the occasional lumber related projects. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Excellent mini truck. Great utility with the quality of the symmetrical All wheel drive. Comfortable cabin. I am 6'-4". Cons: 4 seater max. Center rear seta has a center console with 2 cup holders and a storage container. Would have loved to have a Turbo..Not available in 2003. |

True Sport And Utility — Love this car, truck, cruck. Hauls anything from friends to bicycles to hunting gear, gets decent mileage, and incredible in the snow. Mechanically sound, cabin is super noisy with wind, engine is torquey but will win no drag races. Fun cruck. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Flexibility Cons: Power |

Subaru Baja - Rugged, Sporty, And Fun! — Excellent reliability, low maintenance costs, and subaru handling in the rain / snow! This is an all around great vehicle with a number of creature comforts (leather, power everything, decent stereo). Also, gets excellent gas mileage to boot! This car had a unique look and is perfect for getting you and three of your friends up to the mountain for a snow day or on a weekend camp out! Primary Use: Commuting to work
Pros:
Naturally aspirated with a manual transmission is best - mileage, reliability, and maintenance wise.
Cons:
Automatic Transmission is underpowered |

Hard To Beat The Utility. Big Enough To Haul, Small Enough To Avoid Everyone Elses Hauling — This is the 4th Subaru vehicle I have owned and I love their dependability and the AWD feature. My 1st one was a GL 10 5 speed turbo and you could engage the 4WD on the fly. The Baja has been on my most desired list since 1989. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Every one checks you out. I've had babes want an photo opp. Cons: You don't drive it you wear it. If your a monster truck guy, pass |
