2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIIIReview

Evolution......the Name Sums It All! — Drives and handle like a proper sports car on track but troll like a family saloon in the city XD. The most practical car i have ever owned....with responsible regular maintenance this car will outlive the owner him/herself. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: 1) AWD works on any road surface and i live in Oklahoma which sometimes experience all 4 seasons in a week O_O", 2) Superb braking power, 1/2hr of time attacks never once felt any brake fade, 5hr total track time on that particular day, 3) excellent transmission built quality, 4) very DIY friendly, engine bay has ample work space, 5) low maintenance costs. Cons: Worse ride comfort, my spine felt like its bolted directly to the chassis.....1st upgrade is to discard those stock shocks and then everything else is not necessary unless you have lots of $$$ and free time only your hands. |

Old Faithful — I love this car! Very fast in every way but would still fit 5 people. Very stylish. Love that turbo spool at 3500rpm! Never had leaks for being how old it is. Very few maintenance just of course the required 30k,60,120k tune ups. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Fast and a very reliable car with very little maintenance. Cons: Suspension a little rough for long drives. |

2003 Evo 8 — Performance- Acceleration is nasty thanks to 2 step and the tune, braking is also great because i have drilled slotted rotors with brembo calipers, and handling is absolutely awesome since it is all wheel drive with a 80/20 diff. Build Quality- Car is in outstanding shape seeing how it was damn near totaled in Wisconsin a few years ago. Appearance- Styling is great in and out, minor mods inside and full body kit on the outside with Bremmerkraft Wheels. Fun Factor- Overall wouldnt side with any othe vehicle. This car is a great DD and is fun as hell to drive. Also the space is great since it is a sedan. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Everything is phenomenal on this car. Cons: The ride height dampens my fun sometimes, although i can raise or lower it since it has coilovers |

Love It, But I Wish I Could Get A Softer Suspension. — As we all seen Top Gear that the Evo 8 kept up with a Lambo, you can't say that about a Honda lol. this car looks good with or without the wing. this gets better mpg's than my Audi, so its all good. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Fast, looks good, and most people wouldn't pass on a Evo. Cons: The cost of keeping it at 100% does cost a little higher than usual. |

Bad Evo 8 — This is an all out performance car, not creature comforts, no luxuries just a straight up track car that is street legal. It is an expensive car to maintain...timing belt is 250, water pump is about 100 bucks and then you have to buy a tensioner. Not to mention brakes depending on how you use them are 600 bucks for just the calipers not including pads. Next is tire wear which varies depending on driving style and how many track days the car sees. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Power Cons: Cargo Space |

Other Drivers Should Have To Take A Test Just To Be On The Road With An Evo Viii — What's not to love about this car, fast for the weekend "Events" and able to take the kids to school during the week and get the groceries. This is a high maintenance car and don't expect the insurance to be cheap. Some Insurance companies deny you coverage as soon as they hear the model. (Gieco) Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Fast and Fun! Cons: Avoid If you don't like maintance! Or the costs of them... |

Flippin' Sweet And Sexy! — Performance was amazing! The 4G63 4-cylinder turbo charged engine was a incredible! 271-hp, All- wheel drive, Turbo-charged and inter cooled. I loved everything about this car. This car screamed performance! Nothing on the domestic market could beat it off the line or in acceleration, except its arch-enemy the subaru wrx sti. I topped it out at 157 mph in near stock mode. Gotta Love the Evo. I miss this car so damn much. I'm gonna get another in the not too distant future. Put that on everything. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Top performer out of the box, comes maxed out from factory, is # 5 out of Super Street's Top 10 Tuner Cars in America. Cons: Not a damn thing. |
