Driving the car was decent (the only good part about it). The car was in very bad shape and was not listed as to how it actually was. The guy selling the car was very sneaking with what was wrong with the car and did not want to fully explain what was wrong with it. He did not mention the check engine light, the problems with the interior, the broken passenger window and the sunroof not being able to open and close. On top of all of this, since he did not know what the exact issues were with the car, before purchasing the car he told me to take it to a BMW dealership to get the codes scanned and cleared out with my own money.

Outstanding E39 Bmw... — In my opinion, that this car is 11 years old and as tight and quiet as it is today, is testimony to BMW's engineering and to its manufacturing expertise. The fit and finish of this car, when I bought it with 50K on it, exceeded that of a new Volvo wagon I recall riding in at about the same time. True, a BMW is not a Volvo. The BMW is a great car, I've driven them for 30 years and had one, a 325e, for 25 years.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: sport package on the IL6 "least powerful" engine; funny, but a fun ride on a twisty road, too.

Cons: Handling in ice and snow is not predictable unless you toss a few bags of salt or sand into the back to give it some traction.

Good, But Overall Too Costly. — Again, I learned the hard way. BMW is not a car that you buy! But lease is OK. (I suppose!) I'll never be in a financial shape to buy BMW again, but I would never buy one outright again, unfortunately!

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Good engine and power.

Cons: Lots of smaller annoying things go wrong with the car after warranty.

Really Fun Car To Drive. — Compared to my Mercedes E320, the BMW 530i is a race car. Goes from 60 to 90 like its nothing. Seriously, you cannot tell any difference in handling or ride at higher speeds. Big trunk. Lots of storage space. OVerall very good car.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Beautiful look.  Front seat wrap around you.  Handles fantastic. Stops on a dime.

Cons: Not the smoothest ride, but handles really well.  Unsatisfied with cup holders. idrive is confusing.

It's A Great Car To Commute To Work And To Take Long Trips. The Ride Is Awesome. — I love this car. It handles well in just about any weather condition (not ice). The interior is in excellent condition. It looks as if it were almost new. The outside is in great shape and looks fabulous. BMW had it right. It is the ultimate driving maching.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Very dependable and has a really smooth ride.  Great pick up and go...  I love the heated seats and steering wheel!  The sunroom is nice to open on a sunny day!

Cons: It's a little small for 4 grandkids and all their "stuff."
