Don't Buy It — I bought the car because of the 4-wheel drive and black leather seats. I should have heeded friends' advice to go with a Japanese make because the Passat has ended up being a clunker. Pile o' parts. Avoid like the plague.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Black leather seats, 4-wheel drive

Cons: Repair costs

Car Is Great, Just Sucks That It Has A Sealed Transmission And Soooo Many Parts — Too many parts, special expensive fluids, sealed transmission, a little over priced, does not hold value as it should over time. Safety is great has many air bags, but not a lot of room in back for passengers if driver and pasenger are over 5'-4".

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Great running car with exceptional steering, safe with many air bags

Cons: parts are NOT cheap and too many parts to replace

Great Car To Own — I love the looks, reliability and handling of this car. It is also very economical but looks and drives like a million bucks. I can't wait to buy a newer version of the same model. I would recommend it to anyone. In fact, I'm trying to pass mine on to my sibling.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: great looks, handling and reliability.

Cons: I can't really think of anything bad to put on this subject.

Pretty Good Car! — The car itself is great. It has plenty of what you want in a family car and gives you plenty of options. I personally love its cargo capacity...it's one of the main reason why I bought this car. You really have to see it for yourself and get behind the wheel!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Great for families, transport, and cargo. Handles well and had lots of power

Cons: Could do better in gas mileage

Nice To Drive, Horrible To Own. — This car is awesome to drive, its smooth, classy and has awesome features. However it has a lot of coolant leaks, and is just very problematic. It's not a good car to own on a tight budget all I have to say is read your consumer reports. If you like to work on cars, knows someone who works on cars, or have money. This is the car for you.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Looks amazing, rides amazing, and has many comfortable charactaristcs

Cons: Always in the shop, Always has problems that are very costly to fix, and it runs on premium

Good Daily Driver, But You Will Need Another Car If You Want To Have Fun — Good reliable car, especially for the price, but is frankly boring to drive and one must constantly remind themselves that this car was a practical choice when being constantly passed on the freeway. Also is a Volkswagon and therefore must only be purchased by someone willing to waste an obscene amount of time on routine maintenance.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Reliability, fuel economy, cargo capacity.

Cons: Slow, ugly, difficult to work on.

Fun, Affordable, Safe. — Solid, heavy Wagon. Feel very safe in this Car. Good acceleration when needed. Monsoon stereo is top notch. Need to keep full synthetic oil in it and change when needed (5K). Many have posted problems with this car, maybe I have lucky, but would buy another in a heartbeat.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Solid, German build quality.  Fun to Drive.

Cons: If you don't like to maintain, this car is not for you.
