For 2002, the Nissan Frontier offered a redesigned intrument panel and an available high-end sound system. More importantly, the standard cab was discontinued, and the Crew Cab was offered with an extended bed, the first crew cab compact truck to ever offer a longer bed. The 2002 Frontier comes in four trims: the XE, the Desert Runner, the fully loaded SE, and the Supercharged model. The trims came in a variety of body styles, including an extended cab (KingCab), the Crew Cab, a short bed, and 4WD. Most Frontiers, except the Crew Cab and Supercharged, came standard with a 2.4-liter, 143-horsepower four-cylinder engine that gets about 20/24 mpg in the standard cab and 18/21 for the extended cab. The Crew Cab came standard with the 3.4-liter, 170-horsepower V6, which got 15/19 mpg and which was optional in the KingCabs. The Supercharged model came with a 3.3-liter 210-horsepower V6, getting about 15/18 mpg. Drivers find the 2002 Nissan Frontier to be a solid, dependable truck that can be had at a good price. Drivers are especially enthusiastic about the Crew Cab Supercharged version. Some drivers find the interior space to be tight.

As a small to midsize truck, the D22 Frontier is an excellent blend of utility, style, functionality, and practicality. It wont win any races, but it will always get the job done. Dec 10, 2020

every thing in the wrong place like they said lets put everything wrong and hopefully used as a don't ever do this type Again this what not to do when building a truck gearshift right where window washers is aways cut them on putting it in gear !!!!!!!!!

This truck serves its purpose as reliable transportation that gets you from point A to point B. We are disappointed with the fuel performance, but seems to be durable with over 100k on odometer. Our son primarily uses this vehicle and is handy when needing to transport cargo that would not fit in a van or deep trunk of a passenger car. This is an 11 year + old model and hope Nissan has improved on it. Dec 18, 2013

I love this truck. It's my first truck and it's the absolute best. I was surprised at what good gas mileage we got when we drove up north from the Twin Cities and back. It's awful on gas in the cities. I've never felt safer in a vehicle before.Apr 22, 2013

I purchased this truck brand new in 2002 for $17.5. This truck has taken me all over Texas due to my hobby of participating in mountain bike races across Texas. I plan to keep this truck till the day it dies. I currently have 165k miles on it and the AC has started to give me some small problems. Will be fixing that soon due to this Texas heat all year round. This truck still looks good and I am a very proud owner.Dec 06, 2012

I purchased the truck new and enjoyed every mile between gas stations.
I was lucky to get over 200 miles per tank. This truck also reguires
premium fuel. Get past the fuel range and it was super dependable and
a good looker. The 21/2 inch Rancho lift and 1 inch offset rims gave a

Over all performance is in good shape drives smooth
and comfortable. Decent gas milage.
Car has a few squeaks but its part of being a truck.
Sound system installed. Tool box.

I love my truck. Its a work in progress, I just bought a chip to help the supercharger out some I also got a overdrive pulley on the sc. On the inside I got a Pinoeer head unit with a kicker componet system. next on the list is 2 12" memphis comp subs w/ 3000 watts and another amp for the componet systemSep 26, 2009

Good gas milage for a 4wd, love the 5 speed manual, stock 4wd is great, handles like a car, offroads like a beast. Its built very tough, appearance outside is pleasing, inside the cabin it is clean and looks good, not like a luxury truck, perfect truck for work and play, maintenance is inexpensive. I love my truck! It isn't truly what I expected from a supercharged vehicle, but its a truck. The styling exaclty what I wanted. I had ridden in a friend's Desert Runner Frontier prior to buying mine, and fell in love. The attached stock photo is exactly like the one that I have, except mine has a sprayed-in bed liner and a black toolbox in the bed. I don't have any decals on the side of my bed. This is the fourth year that I've owned it. It certainly isn't the best as far as gas milage, but I feel good driving it. I would either like to make a few performance modifications to it, or maybe get a newer Frontier. It would still have to be a crew cab, but unfortunately it would not be a supercharged version from the factory. Nissan stopped production of supercharged models in '03 or '04. It also has an awesome factory option Rockford Fosgate stereo system. It sounds better than some that I've heard in luxury cars. I'll probably drive it until it falls apart, but then again, I drive all of my vehicle until they fall apart. At least I try to fix them when they do.Aug 04, 2008

This truck is a great buy! Its classy yet inexpensive. If your looking for a stylish, midsized truck with just the right amount of power then this is the truck for you. Despite its amazing qualities it is easy on the pocket book! With gas mileage averaging 18 and a price tag under 20k you can't go wrong!!!Jul 16, 2008

The only con about the car is the gas mileage. It does not get that much per gallon and it costs almost $80 to fill up!!! The car rides very smoothly and the radio is pretty loud for stock.Jun 28, 2008

The supercharger probably helps but it is hardly impressive, and I'm not sure it is designed to be. Even with the crew cab there is not a lot of room inside it. The matching colored leather seats are neat, but man...for my truck you REALLY gotta like the color yellow!Apr 21, 2008

It's a great truck for anyone that wants power, yet a sleek design. It has all the features that you need, and more; power windows, power steering, CD, AM/FM Radio, temperature gauge, vector gauge, anti-lock brakes, not to mention the factory towing package. AC belts been cut still squawking like a bastahrd?
Belts started squealing bad. When I start it up every time since the ac never worked I cut that belt (2002 not A serpentine belt) I want to take the entire AC out and sell the good parts I live in maine no ac needed is this going to mess anything up leaving that belt off? All the other belts are new and snug whats the damn squealing bra? When I spray silicon it will start up once no noise but everyone gives me stink eye when they hear that awful noise. Also I can wrench my own ride but im too broke to smoke with this viris lock down and live in the sticks way out there if my mud bucket sh#!s the bed Im super F%#&ed help me out please. Any. Nissan heads out there have some advise. I love this beater great mudden and trail riding we've had a lot of fun id hate to lose the ugly beast

Brake lights go out, then come back on
I bought a used '02 Frontier with the brake light issue. I started the fix by gluing a penny some one else's attempt at fixing it with a plastic body panel fastener. The light would go out, but some time later would come back on. I then took out the fastener and put in a small bolt and nut. Same thing. The light went out but an hour or so later would come back on. I then glued a penny to the head of the bolt. Same thing again. I can manually push the button and the switch seems to work properly. Any ideas on why the light would go out initially, but then come back on without the truck moving or the brake pedal being pushed at all? Should I replace the switch? Replace the bolt with the proper rubber stopper?
