2002 Mercury Mountaineer Review
I love the looks of my Mounty and the way it drives, it has lots of space and the third row seating is great. However the repairs are more frequent and expensive then any of the vehicles Ive ever owned which is a major downfall to owning this vehicle It also doesnt get that great of gas mileage.

This Vehicle Has Overall Been A Great Vehicle For Our Family Of 5 — I liked the fact that if my childrens friends were going somewhere with us we had a third row seating and if we needing hauling spac then the third row seating lays down. Also there are air vents in the back for the third row seating

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: The Mountaineer seats 7 people and there is air vents all through vehicle.

Cons: I would say the gas mileage

I Loved This Vechile But Now For Me I Need Something Smaller. — I really have no complants about my truck. This was the total package we have been to cheerleading practice, football games and my son took drivers training test in very dependable vechile. The heated seats were a plus in the winter and the third row was great when extra people or things needed to be taken from one place to another.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: I love my Mountaineer! this is actually my second i lease my first one years age and it was such a great truck I purchased another.Greatfamily car with plenty of space.

Cons: gas milage

Great Engine. Remainder Of Car Needs Replaced. — Great in snow. Have driven the car 137K miles. I still like the look fo drivoing it even after 9 years of overship. Repairs have been excessive. All wheel bearings have been or need replaced. A/C condenser broke, no A/C. Rear emergency brake froze and need replaced. etc.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Looks good. Drives thru snow very well.

Cons: Too Many repairs over the life of this vehicle

I Like It — Has great pick up, drives more like a truck than an SUV. 4WD. 5.0 L V8. Now belongs to brother. Was a graduation present when I graduated in 2008, but the gas mileage was killing me considering I work a half hour away.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: big

Cons: gas

Get A Good System! — got 2 12's and 5% tinted windows! The front and passenger aren't tinted but whatever...chrome rims, black exterior, and black leather seats! V8 engine, umm u get about 16 mpg maybe more, maybe less.... exterior gets dirty real quickly!

Pros: system

Cons: Ford/Mercury

Love My 4.6 Mountaineer — ive got an '02 mountaineer, i've actually had 3 mountaineers now, they're super reliable, look nice, super comfortable, real quick for a stock SUV, and it wheels like a champ stock. i've got all kinds of plans for it, stil workin on that

Pros: pretty fast, high top end, looks nice, will make it just about anywhere

Cons: gas prices, v6's are weak, slower bottom end,
