The 2002 Monte Carlo followed in the footsteps of the succesful 2001 model, changing little. The LS engine remained a 3.4-liter, 180-horsepower V6, while the SS stayed at a 3.8-liter, 200-horsepower V6. Fuel economy remained nearly identical at 21/32 city/highway for the LS and 19/29 for the SS.

New for 2002 was the Dale Earnhardt Signature Edition. Only 3,333 of these were produced in honor of the famous "3." The engine is the same as on the SS, but racing markings can make the car look even faster.

If you are looking to be better protected in your vehicle, opt for the SS, which comes with side airbags in addition to the driver and passenger front-impact bags.

These cars have tremendous power and will definitely turn some heads. Great on gas and FWD. I have owned two of these cars 2002-2003 Cars we’re almost identical except for leather interior in the 2003. These cars are similar to Pontiac Grand Prix.Sep 23, 2023

I really like this car. It's held up pretty good for a 10+ year old car. It has some minor issues but what car doesn't? Pretty spacious for a 2 dr and it has some decent trunk space. Good car all together. Jan 21, 2015
