Very versatile and comfortable (many luxury items). Chevy in their infinite wisdom decided to use subpar steel and these cars are very prone to rust (not just fenders but frames, brake, BRAKE LINES!!). Very reliable engines, weak transmissions and way undersized brakes. These problems are possibly only GEN 1 (2002-2006) issues as I have not owned or even driven the GEN 2 (2007-2013). You would have to look at a crew cab LB truck to get somewhat near the functionality. Gas milage sucks as does many of its piers from that age. This improves in the latest gen. Not sure why Chevy decided to end this great design.

Ive owned my avalanche for a little over a year and I absolutely love it! It works great for me because I was looking for either a truck or an SUV and this is the best of both worlds! It has a Huge interior and you can fit a good amount of people in the back seat, you can have 4 skinny adults in the back seat comfortably. The bed isnt that big but with the midgate down you have plenty of room. It handles like a suburban and hauls like a Silverado. I would highly recommend this car to anyone looking to buy.

Fun, Versatile, Full On 4wd With Acceptable Mpg — Soft ride unless you modify suspension. Newer GM Avalanche get beter MPG. There are so many options on this model that you can carry adventure gear, haul construction materials, take your family to the movies, pull a 7000# travel trailer, or look good on the strip with all sorts of mods. Get one.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Great all around rig for adventurous types, maintenance free, great ride, versatile, solid.

Cons: Sometimes a bit soft ride for curvy roads. Can modify to treat this problem. Gas mileage not th e best 17 but acceptable given the age and function of this auto.

Great — Need more gear for pulling, or maybe I chose incorrectly. needs a little more leg room for us tall fellows. love all the options from the sunroof, removable back glass for those nice spring days. The back up alarm is great and a must for this vehilce

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: Drives and Rides like a car, with all the options of a pick-up truck. the cover bed is extremely nice on rainy days to keep cargo dry. The interior is great.

Cons: Don't care to much for the plastic cladding.

Great Utility Mchine — It's a versatile proven workhorse of a truck, rides like an SUV and carry a 4x8 sheet of plywood. Seats five very comfortably with plenty of power around town, or highway speeds. I can't believe that Chevrolet stopped making them!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Powerful, rugged, dependable

Cons: Not to good on gas

Beast Of A Truck — The 8.1L Gas engine had a ton of power, but fuel mileage suffered greatly. I averaged around 10-12 miles per gallon. Fuel cost as much as my truck payments. However, this truck could get through anything and has been one of my favorite vehicles to date.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Power, Durability

Cons: Fuel Mileage, Repair and Maintenance costs

Love It! — Owned this truck and miss it a lot! It actually saved my life when i was hit from an oncoming 3/4 ton truck. Totally destroyed both vehicles... but Iived ! Truck road great, and hauled perfectly. You can have aftermarket wheels on it up to 24's however you MUST upgrade your disk breaks otherwise this truck will eat your breaks alive. The sound system that came with in it stock was nice, however invest a little money and add a Memphis system and you;ll never go wrong. The engine output is ALL RIGHT, however I wish they would have placed a 5.7L V8 in it instead of a 5.3L The extra compartments on the sides of the truck bed are great for odds and ends and the fold down cargo space allows for an (8)? foot bed. Great truck for its price and was literally a life saver. I own a security company and plan on buying a few of these late model Avalanche's for mobile Armories. :) Hope this review helps!

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Low Maint Cost, Never had any break downs, Lots of cargo room, lots of room for people, rides great, no road noise

Cons: stopped making them :( and bad gas mileage
