Love This Little Putt-putt! — This is a great first car or small eco friendly vehicle for those single folks or a couple! Surprisingly lots of space and the seats are very comfy for a long drive! Great gas mileage (one of my favorite things about this vehicle) and maintenance is great and minimal! Also great for tall people, my brother is 6"3' and can sit (and stretch legs) comfortably! Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Best little car! Great on gas and daily commute! Cons: Tough squeeze when you have 5 people that want to ride with you! No AC ![]() Looking for a Used ECHO in your area?CarGurus has 103 nationwide ECHO listings starting at $1,499. |

Reliable; Treasure Ofa Small Car — Why are there so few of these on the market? Because they are a great, peppy, roomy small car and they LAST! Remarkably big trunk space. Excellent big windows and visibility. Great acceleration (for a 4-cylinder) - fun to drive, responsive. Remarkably roomy back seat. Repairs have been few, minor, and affordable. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Remarkably lively for a 4-cylinder car. Roomy - back seat holds 2 with room to spare, 3 if friendly. Upgraded Pioneer HI-Fi system -AM/FM radio and plays CDs and CASSETTES! Cons: Some areas lost the Clearcoat (glossy paint cover) ; the car now has lots of bumper/decorative stickers. Driver's door has occasional problem with the lock. |

Like It So Much I Just Bought A Twin! — I've liked virtually everything about this car for over 348,000 miles!!! So much that when I realized it might not last forever, I spent two days test driving new cars and then went and found a great buy on a used one with only 49,000 miles. I figure I'm all set for the next 13 years!! Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Economical, value, long-lived, great visibility, low-maintenance Cons: squirrelly in high winds |

The Perfect Commuter Car! — I like that it was cheap to buy ($11,000), gets as good gas mileage as my motorcycles after a synthetic oil change and a K&N air filter (43 mpg), and it's easy to park this little car just about anywhere. Since it's a Toyota, parts are cheap and easy to find (if I were to ever need them). Our car now has 170,000 miles, and we've only replaced the clutch and a crank sensor! Accessories and options are almost non-existant. Primary Use: Commuting to work
Pros:
The best gas mileage, better than most hybreds.
Cons:
Light and fidgity on the freeway. Crosswinds require two hands on the wheel. |

Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: GREAT GAS MILEAGE, easy to handle, looks good, little maintenence. Cons: dont really have any complaints, no cruise control. |

Good Daily Driver — Acceleration is OK, as is braking, actually got it to 107 once - downhill. Turns very sharply, short wheelbase, and engine is way down low, so CG feels suprisingly low for such a tall car. Build quality is excellent, 105,000+ miles, no maintenance beyond oil, plugs, brake pads and a new set of tires in 55000 miles (bought used). Appearance is alright, less boring than many economy cars - the gauges are in the center of the dash turned towards the driver. Gas mileage is excellent averages 35MPG, once got nearly 40 burning an entire tank on the freeway. For an economy car with a 1.8L engine its suprisingly fun to drive. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Gas Mileage Cons: Sometimes a little sluggish, dramatically so if driving at higher altitiudes |

Great Buy, Easy To Drive & Maintain, Fun! — I love this car! I've had it since I bought it new almost 10 years ago. Though it doesn't have many frills, it beats out nearly every car sold today in economy and gas mileage. I have a manual transmission, and it is fun to drive... so zippy and handles very well. I have never had to replace or repair anything major, just kept up with oil changes and occasional maintenance, and I have spent very little other money besides buying tires a couple of times. It is no Corvette, but the manual trans. has pretty good acceleration, very responsive breaking & handling. It is a minimalist car, as I bought it when I was broke and in college, but seeing as I spent little to buy it and almost nothing on repairs, it has been a great investment, compared to other comparably priced cars I don't believe would have served me as well. I can't say enough good things about this car, it is great! Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: economical, terrific gas mileage, fun to drive, great handling, little storage pockets everywhere Cons: no cruise control, power windows/locks |

Stop Laughing. — I'll give you a second to stop laughing. Okay - well this car was a lease that we bought out because it was over on mileage, and we haven't looked back. Absolutely indestructable. 260,000 on it and I've done front brakes twice and rears once and done each front bearing once. That's IT for repairs. It blew 0's on its last E-test. Ridiculously reliable little POS. Oh yeah, it barely uses any fuel - better highway mileage than any current hybrid. (So is the Yaris by the way...) Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Bulletproof mechanically, seems to make its own gas. Cons: Light, floaty on the highway, bad in ruts and deep snow. |
