Type 3 4RUNNER might be the best Toyota ever made. Either 4 or 3.4 V6 especially 4x4 and even better if you can find a manual 5 speed 4x4. Manufactured 96 thru 2002 ( last 5 speeds made model year 2000)

Great Truck — Traction control light came on along with Engine Light, but on gas it does pretty good,, drove 1300 miles only filled up 3 times! Havent had to Put a lot of money into it except Breaks, oil Change...the "normal" things.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: never had to put a lot of money into it

Cons: Traction control light

Solid Suv That Will Last Forever. — A great looking car that performed extremely well in all conditions. This car was in the family for over 12 years and was the lowest maintenance vehicle I have ever owned. The best looking style year for the 4 Runner!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Excellent quality, great looks and low maintenance.

Cons: mediocre gas mileage.

Free And Clear And Has Been For Many Years — for a vehicle that is over 10 years old, i see many on the road and it still looks like a recent model - its a great vehicle. its the most reliable vehicle ive ever owned. Over the past 10+ years, its had very few maintenance issues. ive taken great care and it has rewarded me with reliability.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Most reliable vehicle ive ever owned - has 250 K miles and hardly ever had an issue - exctremely relaiable and just the right size.

Cons: gas mileage is about 21 - not great but not bad.

Wonderful Ride — This is a vehicle that will not nickle and dime you to death. change the timing belt, change the oil, and it will last forever. The gas millage is not particularly great but it will get about 18mpg in town or on the highway.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Wonderful daily driver. Its extremely comfortable and very smooth ride. Extremely reliable.

Cons: Not many issues with the vehicle. O2 sensor problems are pretty common, but other than that they are extremely reliable and hold their value

Good 4x4 Suv — Good off road truck. The 4runner needs more power. I love the looks of the truck, I wish it had a little more leg room. It can be cramped with four adults. Great truck for the kids! Safe and reliable!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Reliable! Awesome 4x4 system, roll down rear window.

Cons: Lack of power, rear seat leg room.

T4r — acce;eration is decient for how small the engine is compared to the mass of the car. It is very underpowered as an automatic because of the gear ratio with the 4 speed with overdrive trasmition. it is very well built and drives/rides like a truck. i would deffinatly recomend this car to anyone who needs a safe reliable car. But if your going to get a 4runner get the 4WD model i have driven a lot of diffrent 4WD and AWD vehicles but the 4runner is overall the best.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: never goes out of style

Cons: slow

I Like It. — New Battery, newer tires. Clean inside, large rubber mat in back for hauling. Has second shifter for mud, off road. Just upgraded it to the tune of $800. Still needs a shift celonoid I am told by garage. Has running boards. I have a bad back, cannot get into it anymore. It has a handle for pulling yourself into the car.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Good in snow, mud, winter.

Cons: Nothing.
