Very responsive. Holds the road better than my 1972 914 2L! Automatic. Pretty quiet for a 23 year old convertable. Very few bells and whistles but i didnt expect many for a 23 year oldcar. All in all a

Surprisingly refined and modern for a 2001 vintage car. Performance is exciting, but not excessive, making it an ideal option for those that want to enjoy a spirited drive without sacrificing comforts. Seating may be a little tight for taller drivers, but those under six feet tall will be fine. Pricing varies widely in the 1997 - 2001 range, but so do features (Boxster Base versus Boxster S, other options) which drive prices and value. The nagging Intermediate Shaft failure concern continues to monopolize the conversation around the Boxster (and 911 of the same years), so buyers should be ready to invest in a significant additional expense to rectify the problem . The vehicle rubs very good. All the equipment works. For a vehicle this is 21 the 2.5 motor still puts a car smile on your face. If you can find a boxster for a good price snag it. You dont be disappointed.Mar 28, 2021

Best handling car I have ever owned. Very reliable. Built with quality components. Could use a bit more horse power. Used prices are exceptionally low for a car of this quality. Looks good too. Intermediate shaft bearing issues overblown. Less than 10% of vehicles suffer any negative effects. Frequent oil changes with quality synthetics reduces that percentage even further.Mar 10, 2021

One of the best sports cars I have ever owned or driven, especially when it comes to the "bang for the buck" aspect. The handling on the Boxster S is impecable, especially curbing, with the torque and response of a true sports car. Love it!Jun 06, 2014

It's a porsche, you can't go wrong here. Fun, Sporty (understatement) highly reliable. I know you think of sports cars as needing alot of maintenance, but this car is rearely in the shop unless you count oil changes. Oil changes are once a year or every 15k miles which actually saves you money. Dec 11, 2013

I really like everything about this car. It has more performance options than my other Boxster S and I'm enjoying driving it alot more. The heated seats are a nice touch for a chilly day. I can really tell the Porsche Stability Management (PSM) works well when I slam the gears and don't go sideways! This car is SO much fun to drive. It's like an extension of your thoughts and will do whatever you need it to do.Nov 07, 2013

This is a very personal car-great for daily driving and some more exciting outings as well (pretty fast....). The seats are unusually comfortable. Clutch & transmission are magic. Boxster's balance is remarkably fine--handling gets better as you go faster. You can't beat a drop top for making any drive more fun.Jun 03, 2012

better seats , maybe Ill upgrade them, I put on a new top and unfortunately I can see I need a Paint job, its lacking that showroom luster .
i especially like the way it handles on country roads a fun weekend car . though I have replaced the engine now It si still a lower cost fun sports car.May 30, 2012

Car is alot of fun driving up the California coast. The car has alot of storage, hold enough luggage for a two week jont with the wife. Car costs a bit to have work done on it but well worth that cost. You get what you pay for. Feb 11, 2012

With 23,000 miles on the odometer, you know this is my baby. Rain rarely touches her perfect exterior. No dings, dents or scrapes. Porsche hit a home run when they developed the Boxster. Only problem: they sold so many that the value of the vehicle has not held up like a 911.Oct 31, 2011

Great build quality, decent looks and good performance. Has well know problems with the RMS and IMS which can mean a new engine !!!!! - very expensive !!!!

Corners on rails and plenty fast. Cost of ownership is high. Fun factor is high. Build quality is above average. With the heated seats comes longer season of driving. Always ride with the top down or it's not worth driving.Mar 12, 2009

very fast, my accord probably accelerates faster, but it
handles extremely well and its a good looking car. Its
fun to drive and is a good summer car. The bad things

Sold my M3 to buy the Boxster although had to suffer a bit of a climb down in performance. I could have had an S but to be honest, this car's more about the handling balance and enjoying the roof off rather than outright pace. Had fun with the car and love the ay it looks and the build quality. Running costs are far less than most people think, routine servicing is the same as any run of the mill hatchback although anything extra is expensive. Brake fuid changes and spark plug changes are quite dear but the common crankshaft oil seal problem was the worst cost to bear.Aug 17, 2008

i sold it to buy an s2k but i missed it in the bottom of my jeart cuse: a lot of room inside the car and a lot of storage too (for a roadster) 2 trunks (front and back) breaking power incredible it took 2000$ of modification on my s2k to come close to my old porsche!!! engine wise is ok if i can say ok more like amazing!!!Jul 22, 2008

Lots of fun, lightweight, great performance, and nice interior. Since it has both a front and
rear trunk it is really practical for groceries or luggage when you need to. Fantastic fun to

I just had my ims baring replaced about 3 months ago on my 2001 Porsche Boxster s with 83,000 miles. now the check engine light is on. the code says timing chain and lower cam issues . i was told that a standerd proceedure these two items should have been inspected during the ims replacement and the new work should be warented is this correct

Boxster window won't retract after battery replacement
After replacing the battery the driver's side window will not retract at all. The passenger window works fine - even with the one-touch up/down. The driver side window is up at the full position preventing me from closing the door with the top up. I have tried disconnecting the battery and then reconnecting it thinking that it would reset something but that didn't work.
