This is my second car. My first was a 1996 Grand Cherokee V8 I got from my dad. I only paid $900 for my Alero, had 125,000 on the clock at the time of purchase. It has a sportier feel on the road than my Jeep, but MAN does this car have issues. Leaks coolant, leaks power steering fluid, transmission likes to hesitate, and the drivers seat has been messed up since the day I bought it. BUT, all of that said, it has never ONCE left me stranded, it has always gotten me where I need to go and I dont care what anyone says, its fun if you make it fun. If it were in mint condition Id honestly love it to death.

2001 Oldsmobile Alero — Overall this is a great family car, never let's you down. Decent cargo room, ample space for the rear seat passenger. If maintained regularly, it runs like a charm. For me it is just not much fun to drive because it has an automatic transmission, I prefer a manual.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

    Pros: very reliable, comfortable ride

    Cons: not a fun car,

A Good First Car — I got my Alero from my dad when he got a new car. I have driven it for 5 years now and I have only had to put in a new alternator in it and it has over 200,000 miles. It doesn't have much power under the hood but the fuel economy is pretty good, average about 25mpg.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Cheap to keep on the road, haven't had too many problems with it. Good mpg, not a bad stock stereo.  Easy to drive anywhere except in deep snow or off road.

Cons: Have been told it looks like a grandpa car. Not the fastest car.

01 Alero — not a bad little car , but not as good as my second car , its got some flaws but most cars do , maybe its just my preference on cars or maybe its actually not justt me but , the motor is strong only trouble with that is that its a v6 and take a good chunk of change for gas

    Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: It would make a good starter car , for a first car for someone

Cons: the spoiler gets in the way of the back window because the back end sits up to high

Practical Coupe With Not Much Power — basic car with a 2.4 L four cylinder engine. rattles a lot kind of a money pit pooooooooor quality and descent styling. gas mileage is fine but could be better due to lack of power. there is really nothing fun about an over priced gm coupe..

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: fine car with some baggage but is easy to love after a couple repairs. but not all aleros can be like this

Cons: poor quality loud cheap but is practical

Good Car. — I loved my Ruby! Loved the fact that even though it left me on road when electrical system fried itself, it was a great little car. Plus being red got me noticed. If I could just find another one. I'd be happy.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

    Pros: It had Corvette suspension

    Cons: Olds no longer built

Loving The Look & The Speed — All around good car; fairly fast acceleration, not many squeaks or rattles, not many repairs needed either! love the look, ok gas mileage but could be better. pretty fun to drive, but probably nothing compared to something a little sportier.

    Pros: Look & acceleration

    Cons: Gas mileage

Olds Alero — Performance - quick pick up with tight suspension of high speedo corners Build Quality - ive had it for a year now and not a single thing as gone wrong or broken Appearance - chrome pillar posts , louis vuitton monogram on windows , 18" rims, sunny tires rubber Ranks high on the fun factor ... steering translates amazingly to the road

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Unreal traction and ride quality

    Cons: Minimal Aftermarket Parts

Piece Of Crap!! — Very poorly made. It chews threw wheel bearing like you would not believe and there very expensive to replace. All kinds of little stupid things break on them. Like cruize control buttons, heater buttons, and fan relay switches. This was a know prob with these cars as well as the Grand Am's. Lousy car don't buy one.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Don't buy a General Motors Vehicle!!

    Cons: GM Makes it!!
