compared all 2001 dually 3500 trucks. GMC was quieter, better looking, very comfortable ride. minimal maintance and/or repairs. Great driving when pulling 13,000 pound trailer in Utah, Wyoming, and Ca. mountains. Purchased a 2016 GMC dually 3500 after comparing with the other top brands 350 and 3500.

A Gem Tower From The Past! — The 8.1L coupled with the Allison transmission is a great combination...really wished GM had maintained this combination on the dually. I understand you can get it on a camper. Rumor I heard is that it was too good and mean time between failures was too high for GM to make any money on in the out years soo...they dropped it from production. (Can anyone confirm this rumor?)

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: 8.1L V8...regular gasser...tons of power and decent mileage (@12 regardless of empty or pulling)  Have a 5th wheeler and a 4 horse gooseneck

Cons: Front disc brakes often have film of rust since I don't drive daily.  Some squealing until I get film worn off.

2001 GMC Sierra 3500 SLE Crew Cab 4WD Review

My Gmc 3500 Is Awesome. — It works. It plows, pulls, tows, hauls, offroads, anything I want it to. Havent had to many problems. It gets about 11 mpg with the 6.0l. I could use a bigger engine. It rides awesome for a 1 ton. The fiberglass sides kinda suck.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: Looks good. Runs good. Works Good

Cons: Could use more power. But it does the job.
