My old truck has been so good to me and my family. I've taken this truck on many long road trips and back country trails. She has taken us every where I've wanted to go. I've done many 4 wheeling trips with my buddies in the rock crawlers and I have to say she has been great for those types of outing. I've slept many a night in the bed looking up at the stars way out in the dessert.Nov 04, 2014

my very first truck. needed new shocks/brakes/and tie rods. had a V6 with ok power. towing wasn't too great but snow/ice/rain/mud/sleet was nothing to it with the all terrain tires and 4x4. it was a great first truck.Mar 19, 2014

I liked having a full back seat, but wished the doors opened the other direction. It was difficult for passengers to enter or exit truck in tight parking spaces. I loved how smooth the truck rode and how comfortable the seats were. Aug 04, 2013

This is honestly a good truck all except the tranny the 4L60E does not las as
long as it should other then that its a good hard working truck it has the style
without the lack of horse power the 327 vortex V8 will last as long as you take
care of it... And coming from me what I have put this two wheel drive threw it

It runs great, and I have had no engine troubles. It's 10 years old and only has
60,000 miles on it. I's a reliable vehicle unlike a ford, for it actually starts in the
winter on the first try. It's a great make. I would recommend this vehicle to

5.3L V8 + shift kit + posi trac = a good time. lots of acceleration and little body
role. clear coat is peeling and slight body damage. interior is in great condition.
prolly gets 13 mpg in town and 18 mpg on the highway. i'm running synthetic oils,
duralast ceramic brake pads, and just had my tranny rebuilt. running goodyear
tires, all around tire...like to get lose at 2 grand. all in all its a blast to drive. hard to

Great looks, performance, and gas mileage. Holds the road well in severe
conditions, off road applications it does well. Have replaced the transmission with a
rebuilt and have had no problems since. Overall a very nice looking driving truck.

The acceleration is less than I would prefer but it is good otherwise. I get decent fuel milage at 17hwy and about 15 in town and it is at about 170,000 miles. but you can't beat hanvin a truck so what if it doesn't get great fm.Jan 20, 2009

Little weak on the acceleration but otherwise a great truck. Has stood the test of time. Just starting to bubble rust on the rear wheel wells which isn't a surprise and very repairable. Would be nicer with some way to organize the backseat as opposed to everything just rolling around.Aug 04, 2008

Great truck. Tons of power thanks to the 327 v8, lots of stopping power from the 4 wheel discs. Good handling for a truck, has seen many high speed romps through country roads. The truck the 5.3 v8 drives fine no lights on, but when you sit idle after its been running and the engine is warm the truck will shake and fill like its going to die out. when you give if gsd it sound like its bubbling then when you drive it afain it clears itself back out.

5.3L v8 replacement in a 2001 silverado
Hi guys, I have an 01 Silverado 5.3L V8 F OHV 4x4 LT It has 187k miles on it. I found out today that I need a new engine due to compression issues. The test reads as follows: Cylinder Pressures: 1)145psi 2)155psi 3)155psi 4)110psi 5)160psi 6)155psi 7)160psi 8)105psi It also needs a new fuel pump due to the fuel sending unit is going out, it needs front brakes, it needs tie rods and ball joints. Knowing this, would you spend the money or buy a newer truck? Thanks. James
