Burnt transmission fluid
I just changed both shift silonoids and filter along with transmission fluid and a couple days later the transission fluid smells burn besides change the fluid again what do i do

The 2001 Chevrolet Blazer added a new trim to its lineup. The Xtreme, offered only in the two-door bodystyle, was targeted more at cruisers and tuners than at off-road adventurers: it had a lot of flash in features like exterior cladding and aluminum wheels, but was only available in a two-wheel drive version. The other trim levels (LS, LT, and ZR2) stayed much the same from the 2000 model year. Two-door and four-door bodystyles were available, and 2WD and 4WD versions were offered.
Although the '01 Chevy Blazer wasn't the newest SUV design in the market, some drivers sought it out for its classic look and long reputation. The 2001 Blazer was considerably more affordable than many of the other choices in the midsize sport utility range, and the hefty, solid Blazer wagon appealed to people looking for something sturdy.
The Vortec 4.3 liter V6 engine put out 190 horsepower and 250 lb.-ft. of torque, with an EPA fuel efficiency estimate of 16 mpg city/20 mpg highway. Safety features like dual airbags, ABS anti-lock brakes, and rear child safety locks addressed the concerns of soccer moms and suburbanites; drivers with a more outdoorsy bent opted for the four-wheel drive versions, carrying on the Chevy offroad truck tradition.

I have fallen in love with the blazer but im at the point of giving up on her as I have repaired quite a bit on her in a year. She is big she is rugged and she is fun to drive. I love the handling but do not love the maintenance costs lol.Sep 12, 2014

I like this vehicle a lot. The 4 wheel drive has been of great use during all this snow that we have been having this year. I have not run into anything yet that it can't pull itself through. If you need a great 4 wheel vehicle for a really good price, Chevy should do just fine.Jan 08, 2014

I drove this Blazer for ten years and was very satisfiaded with it. I had an oppurtunity to purchase a full size pickup with low miles so I did.
I am getting ready to retire and wanted something with more space to haul things otherwise I would have continued to drive the Blazer until it gave up on me.

Blazers sometimes have check engine light problems that goes off for no reason.
Mine hates highways. The seats are comfortable, ride is nice. Takes corners like a
boss. Outruns my friend's Honda. Gas mileage is average. Has good looks, nice

I bought my Extreme in 2001 brand new, and have
not had 1 major problem. So when I paid it off
in 2005, there was no reason to purchase
another car.After saying all the money from no
car-payments, and miles of road-trips to
California. I fell in love with it all over
again. It was worth every penny to rebuild, and
upgrade the Vortex engine. It still has the
original paint job, and the interior is
flawless. My Exreme looks better then it did
when I bought it brand new.To all the Camero's
and Mustangs lovers (which you see every 3-5
cars), Don't come close to all the looks and
compliments I get everyday rolling my ride. It
is the last car I will purchase in a very long
time, and with less then 20,000 miles on the
rebuilt engine.I have no worries what so ever
it will roll another 100,000 before I put it in
the garage where it will sit until the day I

I love my Blazer! It is awesome! I bought it on April 16, 2009 with 114,000 miles and it now has 137,000 and have only had a problem once(fuel pump went out in Arkansas)! I have done a lot of personalizing on it:leather seat covers, wood dash kit,steering wheel cover, dash cover, new floor mats, custom headlights and front turn signals(not shown in picture), side window vents, fender vents, taillight trim, etc. My Blazer rides pretty well for an SUV, pulls up to 4000 pounds, runs strong, handles well, has pretty good acceleration, and gets decent mpg. Some things I do not like about it: no four wheel drive, 2 doors, lot of plastic(rattles on rough roads), sloped rear window(cuts into cargo space). It does not require much maintenance, just change the oil and check the fluids and such. Main cost is the fuel, it gets lower 20's on the highway and upper teens in town. Not a good city car. Likes open road! AMEN! Some things I would like to do to it in include a grill guard, running boards, rims off an upper model four door Blazer, and possibly a better quality wood dash kit. I would definetly recommend a Chevy Blazer, good build quality, reliable, powerful, and fun to drive(especially in the country). Would recommend the four door model over the two door. Rear access can be ackward and leg room is a little tight for really tall people( I am 6'2" and it is just right).Overall the Blazer is a great vehicle and I am a proud owner!Sep 23, 2010

great truck and easy to modify as well as do custom work... truck rides wonderfully its performance is awesome well gas is a lil pricey being it is a 6 cylinder but thats life the truck is beyond fun to drive its sporty and rides smooth and like i said easy to modify im a mini trucker and this truck was my dream vehicle and now i finally have it and couldnt ask for more. the build of the truck is beyond sturdy i had a feew lil fender benders but took little to no damage at all and it was all cosmetic damage (replacing plastic panels) Sep 15, 2010

the only complant i have for my blazer is its suspension but it really sucks on gas mileage but if you can afford the gas its a fun suv to be ridin in and around especially when you got your friends around

Had a decently powerful 4.3L V6 engine, but it ran rough. Gas mileage was terrible for a V6. Rarely got over 18-20mpg even being nice to it on the highway. Spent more in repairs and maintenance over the course of the year than the payment and insurance. Noisy interior. Door panels, and nearly everything else plastic rattles like crazy. Braking was impressive. After getting new Higher Performance shocks, ride was more acceptable. 4WD was useless at times, my front wheel drive Grand Prix has made it through more than the Blazer, with ease.Feb 19, 2010

THis has been a very good vehicle for me. My freinds and I use it every weekend to have fun. We hunt, off-road, and pull a trailer with the four wheelers. Its not that roomy but we can fit five people inside just fine.Sep 16, 2009

The acceleration, breaking and handling were surprisingly responsive. After a few years of driving it the body began to rattle and become dislodged! The gas mileage was a joke. The maintenance was not bad on the pocket so it was not a total loss.Aug 02, 2009

performance wise its a decent amount with great torque
Build qulity is moderite its not the worst but dont think the best. Gets about 15 mgg city/hwy. There is a lot of plastic interior and a lot to work with for custom interior.

the gas mileage is horrible, but it is worth is to carry stuff around in.

It has a lot of power for only being a 4.3L V6. I get over 20 mpg which makes me happy, especialy when I go offroading on the weekends. Which leads me to the point of it riding fairly low. This really shows when I am going through really beat up trails.Oct 23, 2008

Four Wheel Drive is the best I have ever owned. The size vs. Economy is great. I can tow just about anything I need with the 4.3L and still get 20MPG on the HWY (not towing). The bad side is the acceleration is pretty pathetic, and the same ergonomics chevrolet is always critisized of. This truck is just too easy. From full push button controls to the 185 horsepower engine.. it's a very girly truck for a guy like me.. I like my S10s that haul ass at 290 horsepower.. and the new 185hp 262ci. 4.3L V6 is just pathetic compared to the old 250 hp 262. It just can't compete.Jun 06, 2008

The car is my wife's. We had only one problem, when the car was new, the bracket which hold's the stearing column as well as the brake pedal is bolted to the firewall inder the dash. Someone forgot to double check for tightness of the fasteners. It required engineerers from Detroit to figure it out. At least this is what we were told. They had the car for 29 days to determine the cause of the problem, beleive it or not. Since then we have had no issues.Mar 23, 2008
