2000 Dodge Avenger Preview summaryImage

All good things must come to an end, or so the saying goes, and the Avenger is no exception. The 2000 Dodge Avenger is the last year for this sports coupe popular for its snazzy appearance, great handling, and driving enjoyment.

For its last year, the Avenger saw the continuation of the mid-year changes from 1999. The V6, 2.5-liter, 163-horsepower automatic is standard on all models, and base models now feature some of the perks from the ES. Also added as standard features on the base are cruise control, 4-wheel disc brakes, and new upholstery. In 2000, the Avenger ES gets power leather seats and some new colors.

It is still speedy, roomy, and stylish, but the complaints about the transmission and reliability haven't changed over the six years of this car's life. Overall, drivers love this car.

Do not mourn the passing of the Avenger. It is not gone so much as reborn...as the Dodge Stratus. Chrysler discontinued the Avenger when it decided to add a coupe model to its Stratus line.

built with a plastic feel. leather interior is very nice and bucket-like seats. doors and interior frame is terribly weak. exterior is strong. good sound system stock. decent power for the car. heavy car. turning is slow and not too sharp as i would like. appearance is good. sport feel overall. good tires and suspension even stock. after hitting 35 miles per hour ( which is a slow acceleration up to that point) it begins to rocket up until about 100 miles an hour then it can inch up to 140 or 145 as it's speed limit.Jun 15, 2008
