The 1999 Toyota Avalon saw very few changes for the model year. A new Avalon was in the works for the following year. By 1999, the Avalon had been on the market for five years, and was beginning to make its name as an affordable luxury sedan.
The 1999 Toyota Avalon comes in two trim levels, the XL and the more luxurious XLS. Both trims come standard with a 3.0-liter, 200 horsepower V6 engine. The XL is nicely equipped, including an AM/FM/cassette sound system and cruise control. The XLS includes a few more niceties, like an upgraded sound system, alloy wheels, and a theft-deterrent system. The XLS also comes with option of front bucket seats or a three-seater bench. Fuel efficiency is 21/31 mpg.
Drivers appreciate the 1999 Toyota Avalon’s good fuel economy, smooth ride, excellent handling, and wide array of options to chose from. Many owners praise the Avalon’s roomy interior, including plenty of cargo space. Owners have few complaints, but many find the styling a little bland and some even suggest that it is an “old person’s car.â€

The Toyota Avalon XLS, Platinum Edition was offered only this one year. It had a special paint, wheels, perforated leather seats, and floor mats. My wife and I owned one from 1999 to 2004. Wish we had figured out some way to have kept it. Im very sorry to have missed out on the subject offer.Jun 14, 2024

The Avalon has been a great car to own, with few repairs necessary if maintained properly. The car always felt safe, handled well and we enjoyed the quiet and smooth ride. With good tires, it performed well in winter conditions also.Mar 22, 2013

parts are expensive. i like the car a lot other than that. gets up and scoots well. stops well. has a lot of body roll in corners. there is a squeak out of the rear struts, and a rattle out of the front.Oct 07, 2012

This car is pretty quick. It's a stock V6, but could handle a little better. Has a lot of body roll. The brakes need to be done soon, but other than that its great. My husbands dad took real good care of it. Always garaged it and washed it after every outting. Thinking about getting some rims for it. Having a hard time finding any that look good on it for a decent price. It's got dark tinted windows. You can hardly see in it. Nice and straight body, hardly a scratch or ding. Gas milages is pretty good. About 25 or so mpg if I don't romp on it all the time. This car is fun as hell to drive. I take it easy mostly because of my little one, but when shes not in there with me, I pick on ricers and chevys. :)May 19, 2012

Super reliable, Durable, low cost of wonership
The engine has a lot of umph, but comes at a cost of 21mpg
I enjoy driving it, and love all the features it has to offer.

This was a great car, and it is still running great for my brother in law.
The performance was what you would expect it to be from a family car. It

its a great car to take you from A to B but not the fastest thing on the road, it puts some decent horses but not enough to lay down rubber or anythin like that but its a normal drive during the week.Feb 25, 2009

how to disable alarm for avalon 1999? i installed a new battery and the alarm won't stop completely. it will stop after 30 seconds but then start again if I try to turn on the car. how

Car won’t start after stalling out. HELPPP
My car won’t start. I was driving and it loss all power as it would not accelerate anymore. Every warning light came on. Had it looked at by several mechanics. First it was thought to be the fuel pump or crankshaft sensor (not the problem) It was also thought to be the fuel injection relay and spark plugs but a mechanic said it’s not that either and it may be the key but we had different keys tested and that wasn’t the problem either. Now we are stuck with thinking it’s the wiring in the ignition cylinder. No one has a positive diagnosis of the problem. The car starts now but cuts back off after a few seconds. The fuel pump works the battery has been charged. Crankshaft sensor have been replaced. Pep boys conducted diagnosis of the car and still no answer
