The 1999 GS 400 was just the second installment of the vehicle, so there were no changes from the 1998 model-year offering. The car retained its powerful, 4.0-liter, V8 engine.
That engine produced 300 horsepower and offered acceleration from zero to 60 miles per hour in 6 seconds. Later, 4.3-liter versions of the GS 400 did not improve significantly on those numbers.
"You cant fix perfection," wrote one owner when asked what improvements he'd like to see on the GS 400. Safety-conscious drivers were a bit put off by the rear-wheel drive, but performance-minded driving enthusiasts would not have accepted the GS 400 any other way.
My check engin light comes on as well as teh VSC light, and car stalls out, wont die idles fine but no rpm's. Checked by a diagnostic computer but computer shows nothing wrong, only happens when car is warm. any Ideas to what my problem is. KKG
I've had my few part replaced 2 Times with in the last 7 months my fuel gauge inside the car is not Reading properly. The fuel leveler was never replaced. I always kept gas in the car now after 2months I go to a funeral, leave funeral then cart wont start. It will sputter but not turn over & start.
Car has been sitting for about 1 1/2 in garage. Prior to sitting there was no issues, ran like it was new. New air filter, oil change and new filter, new fuel pump and filter, no issues at all. I went to start it and it would not start no surprise, attempted to jump it would not jump, battery was totally dead. replaced the battery and added fuel (2 gallons) but it still will not start. It will turn over as though it is going to start but it sounds and feels like its out of gas. Any suggestions?
